Tvpartyw301 Aren't toddlers precious? Especially when they've been dolled up to look as though they're desperately trying to recapture the youth of their early 30s? While some people are judgmental about beauty pageants for kids, Little Miss Perfect, airing Wednesdays on WE: Women's Entertainment, tries not to preach but rather leaves the judging to people who know where to buy batons that fit 3-year-old hands. So call your friends and neighbors and tell them the talent portion will include going potty and tying shoelaces 'cause we're throwing a Little Miss Perfect party!

Setting the scene:

Think Barbie's Dream House with a glittered runway and a Miss Congeniality sash. Pink is the color of the day, so paint the room the color of bubble gum and cordon off a stage area with a velvet rope, spotlights and a beaded sparkle curtain. Add some stuffed animals and a makeup staging area with mirrors and gift bags from Sephora. Encourage guests (boys, too) to use too much rouge and work the ribbon choker look. Nothing says "winner" like satin ribbon and ringlets. Tap dancing, karaoke versions of "On the Good Ship Lollipop" and baton twirling round out the talent portion of the competition. Surround the television with trophies for the top three finalists, and give Barbie dolls as party favors. The host serves as master of ceremonies and hands out roses to each contestant (guest).

Attire:

Supply all guests with sashes and tiaras, and encourage them to dress in ball gowns. The eveningwear competition will need to be wrapped up early as most contestants' bedtime is 7 p.m. sharp.

On the menu:

Little Misses Perfect prefer finger foods, so serve potato halves with smoked salmon and dill, Cubano quesadillas and oven-fried chicken tenders with five-spice barbecue sauce. Have angel food cake for dessert and chilled juice boxes for the beverage.

On the hi-fi:

Beauty Contest by No Doubt, Beauty and the Beast by David Bowie, Beauty School Dropout by Frankie Avalon and the soundtrack to Little Miss Sunshine.

The showstopper:

The show's pageant director, Michael Galanes, runs the America's Perfect Junior Teen pageant, so why not check out the pageant's Web site, head to your state's competition and cheer on your favorite? Individual state pageants are happening now through May, and nationals take place in August. Bring your sash!
