Tvpartywo05While most parties tend to fall during the evening hours, once in a while we need a good reason to serve Bloody Marys -- and that means we need a breakfast or brunch party. And the only thing capable of getting us out of bed before noon is NBC's Today. There's something about Al Roker telling us what's going on in our neck of the woods that makes us smile. So if you spend far too much time wondering where in the world is Matt Lauer, or if Meredith Vieira was the best choice to replace Katie Couric, call your friends and neighbors -- we're going to party like it's Today.

Setting the scene:
Who would have guessed you could dress the longest-running television morning show with little more than a couch and a news desk? In fact, you probably have a couch and desk already in your house. Now all you need is Ann Curry to sit behind that desk and talk about a natural disaster somewhere. Add blue backdrops against one wall (Today loves blue), and light them from behind. Then add a couple of flat-screen TVs to air the show during the party. Place a rectangular table off to one side for the cooking segment -- yes, you'll be cooking. Hire someone to portray Willard Scott, and video him wishing each guest a happy 100th birthday.

Attire:
It's difficult to form a sartorial theme from Matt, Meredith, Ann or Al, so have guests show up with signs they'd bring if they were visiting Today in Manhattan: hometowns, happy birthdays, etc.

On the menu:
The cooking segment will be creating the meal, so have omelet and waffle stations, and hire a caterer to show guests how to make everything. Don't forget the smoothies or the Bloody Marys.

On the hi-fi:
The Today concert series comes to your house! Hire an impersonator to perform three songs in the backyard. From Michael Jackson to Madonna, you can find just what you're looking for.

The showstopper:
Forcing someone to pretend to be Willard Scott is all well and good, but why not invite some of your closest friends to visit the Today set? The show broadcasts Monday through Friday from the ground floor at the corner of 49th Street and Rockefeller Center in New York. Bring some signs telling them we sent you.
