Never has the phrase you don't know what you've got until it's gone been more appropriate.

Sometimes I'm still so naive about television.

It's not like I don't know that American Idol often puts people through that make for good television. But I was still SHOCKED that Tatiana made it into the Top 36. I've always felt like the purpose of Hollywood Week was to not only find the best singers but also to discover who can handle the stress of the competition and who can't.

Some of my friends started an email chain this week with the theme being "Why is Lynette always such a bitch?"

They were talking, of course, about Desperate Housewives.

The remote to TV disappointment is paved with high expectations.

That's the best way I can sum up the post-Super Bowl episode of The Office that will air this Sunday on NBC at approximately 10:30 p.m. ET.

We've spent a lot of time this month celebrating our favorite TV things of 2008. But I thought we would take a break from all the happy, happy, joy, joy and talk about some of the things we didn't like this year. Don't worry we'll be back to all the good times next week.

Last night's episode of Boston Legal was, as Alan (James Spader) summed up, eventful. The firm has gone bankrupt, Shirley and Carl are engaged and Alan put forth a convincing speech about the state of racism in America.

We've spent a lot of time this season bemoaning the fact that House doesn't seem to know what to do with Cameron and Chase (hopefully that changes somewhat with next week's episode so stay tuned). But there are a few other characters who aren't getting the attention or story lines they deserve.

Somewhere along the way many of us officially broke up with the Emmys.

And now we feel apathy for the annual TV award show. The yearly fete has disappointed us too many times for too long for us to treat the show as having any significant validity.

We've now entered the time of year where every day new DVDs arrive. It is still the epic battle of me vs. the clutter and yes the clutter is still winning. And in case you're wondering NBC has yet to send out any of their new shows. I'm going to start some sort of vigil. Like it's Day 36 of NBC DVD Watch '08. Maybe I'll do something like not eat dark chocolate until they arrive. It will be difficult but my protest must be heard.
