ABC is making big news this week because of The Bachelor brouhaha.
I've never been a fan of the show (couldn't even make it through the first season) so although I find it fascinating that a man can go from most desirable dad in America to deceptive, despicable cad overnight, I can't muster up that much interest in the story.

Do you remember last year how dismayed I was about The Return of Jezebel James? I couldn't get past the fact that the dismal comedy was from the woman behind Gilmore Girls.
I know many of you are concerned about the show and I want to assure that it is NOT the same situation with Dollhouse, the new series from Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly) premiering tonight at 9 p.m. on FOX. Having loved, loved, loved Buffy, my expectations are probably even higher than they were for Jezebel James.

TV "will they or won't they" romances are a timeless television convention. They reel us in, keep us coming back each week and really make us care.
But there is only so much back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth a TV viewer can take. Eventually a show has to decide or risk repelling the viewer.

Last night's episode of Boston Legal was, as Alan (James Spader) summed up, eventful. The firm has gone bankrupt, Shirley and Carl are engaged and Alan put forth a convincing speech about the state of racism in America.
