'Scrubs' as we know it scrubs out . . .

Is it the season finale or the series finale? "Scrubs" ends its eighth season in a one-hour episode tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC amid talks that the show could return in some new form next season. But even if Zach Braff makes a few guest appearances on a revamped version of "Scrubs," it certainly seems like this will be the series finale of the "Scrubs" we have known and loved for eight years.

Jasonmesnick_thebachelor_240 ABC is making big news this week because of The Bachelor brouhaha.

I've never been a fan of the show (couldn't even make it through the first season) so although I find it fascinating that a man can go from most desirable dad in America to deceptive, despicable cad overnight, I can't muster up that much interest in the story.

Elizadushku_trucalling_240_003 Do you remember last year how dismayed I was about The Return of Jezebel James? I couldn't get past the fact that the dismal comedy was from the woman behind Gilmore Girls.

I know many of you are concerned about the show and I want to assure that it is NOT the same situation with Dollhouse, the new series from Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly) premiering tonight at 9 p.m. on FOX. Having loved, loved, loved Buffy, my expectations are probably even higher than they were for Jezebel James.

Cobiesmulders_howimetyourmother_240 Ross and Rachel. Carrie and Big. Sam and Diane.

TV "will they or won't they" romances are a timeless television convention. They reel us in, keep us coming back each week and really make us care.

But there is only so much back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth a TV viewer can take. Eventually a show has to decide or risk repelling the viewer.

It's not just because Sawyer spends the entire episode without his shirt on.

Courteneycox_240 Scrubs is back for an eighth season Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ABC.

And when I say it's back, I don't just mean the show is returning with new episodes. I mean the comedy is back to the Scrubs we knew and loved.

Jamesspader_bostonlegal_s4_240 Last night's episode of Boston Legal was, as Alan (James Spader) summed up, eventful. The firm has gone bankrupt, Shirley and Carl are engaged and Alan put forth a convincing speech about the state of racism in America.
