Watch out, here comes 'Maneater'
There are so many new shows premiering this week it almost feels like September.
Is "Parks and Recreation," the new comedy premiering Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on NBC, a lot like "The Office?" Yes it is. It's filmed in a mockumentary style with all the characters addressing the camera. The pace, the cutaways, the lingering shots and the mugging all seems fairly familiar.
Ross and Rachel. Carrie and Big. Sam and Diane.
TV "will they or won't they" romances are a timeless television convention. They reel us in, keep us coming back each week and really make us care.
But there is only so much back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth a TV viewer can take. Eventually a show has to decide or risk repelling the viewer.

In honor of Thanksgiving, I could write a column about all the TV things I'm thankful for. Like I'm thankful that Lost, Scrubs and 24 will all be back in January. Or I'm so thankful that it actually looks like the Arrested Development movie is going to happen (remember there's always money in the banana stand). And, of course, I'm thankful that Little J wiped off her bad eye makeup on Gossip Girl (although I am strangely indifferent to who Nate ends up with, how about you?).
