In love on 'In Plain Sight?'

We all saw what happened in Sunday's episode right? The look on Marshall's face when Mary told him she was engaged? The look on both their faces when Marshall made a toast at the end of the episode? My heart broke a little when Marshall talked about how he wishes only the best for her.

But are they a couple we want to get together? I have always thought of them as the male/female duo who wouldn't fall in love because that wasn't even on the table. That their hilarious rapport was based on a deep friendship not unrequited love. They're not Mulder and Scully or Bones and Booth. I'm fairly certain this isn't a direction I want the show to go in. And that's saying something because you know I'm using rooting for romance and love triangles. The show is clever and different. I don't want to see them go down an already well-worn path.

I'm really enjoying this season. The cases are interesting. Mary's prickly personality is beginning to slowly crack. We're seeing less of her family and more of her relationship. Mary is one of the more interesting characters on TV. And as much as I like Marshall, I don't want them together. How about you?

More Hopes of the New Season

Well by now I'm sure you've heard that my number one hope -- that "Grey's Anatomy" not kill off George -- has been dashed. "Grey's" returned to work this week and all the characters were seen attending George's funeral. I still wish when the season premiered, Meredith could have talked about George recovering and heading off to Iraq. But alas, this dream has been dashed.

So I shall move on to my next hope. It's for Gabrielle on "Desperate Housewives." I wish for her some degree of character consistency. It seemed like every episode last season, we were treated to a different Gabrielle. One week she was the down-to-earth friend. The next a frivolous woman who did nothing but shop all day long. The next a conniving woman bribing Carlos's boss. One week compassionate. The next cold and calculating. Sure someone could be all these things but the way they wrote Gabrielle she seemed to ricochet between personalities. And what will happen next season when Carlos's niece (played by Maiara Walsh) joins the cast full time next season? I'm excited for Drea de Matteo and Jeffrey Nordling to be moving to Wisteria Lane. And glad to have Andrea Bowen back as Julie, but I remain worried about Gabrielle. How about you?

Will there be a mad men marathon on so I can get caught up? Please advise. Prudence

Now is a great time to remind everyone that "Mad Men" returns for a third season on August 16 at 10 p.m. On Monday, August 10 from 7 a.m. -- 8 p.m., AMC will air all 13 episodes of the second season (set your DVRs). Season one and two are currently available on On Demand and out on DVD. And you can watch the series pilot at www.amctv.com.

Where Have I Seen Them Before

Brian Goodman was the crooked owner of the wrestling ring on "Leverage." He played Donovan on "Line of Fire" and was Ryan one of the Others during the third season of "Lost."

Gil recognized Eliza Coupe was Kate, the friend of Jill's who got a shark bite on "Royal Pains." Coupe was Denise during the final season of "Scrubs." And, of course, we all recognized Roselyn Sanchez, Elena on "Without a Trace," as the woman whose husband had implanted a tracking device in her. Rupak Ginn, who played Rahim in "The Cheetah Girls: One World," was Divya's fiance. (Is it wrong that that's how I recognized him?)

Anne and Derek were the first to be thrilled to see Leslie Grossman as the school therapist on "10 Things I Hate About You." To most of us, she will always been Mary Cherry on "Popular." She was also Bliss on "Nip/Tuck," Lauren on "What I Like About You" and we saw her last season as the hypochondriac patient on "Grey's Anatomy" (remember Joshua Malina played her husband).

Ben Shenkman was Tom Stickler on "Burn Notice." He was Russell on "Canterbury's Law" and we saw him this season on "Grey's Anatomy" as the husband of the pregnant woman (Jennifer Westfeldt) who needed brain surgery. John was excited to see Josie Davis, Sarah on "Charles in Charge," as April on "Burn Notices." Davis was also Laurie on "Titans" and Camille on "Beverly Hills, 90210."

Gil caught Jay Harrington, who we currently love as Ted on "Better Off Ted," as Erik on "Burn Notice." Nicholas Lea was Erik's shady brother. Lea was Tom Foss on "Kyle XY," Eric on "Men in Trees," and, to me he'll always be, Alex Krycek on "The X-Files."

Sherilyn Fenn was Helen the counterfeiter in witness protection on "In Plain Sight." She was Anna, the mother of Luke's daughter on "Gilmore Girls" and Audrey on "Twin Peaks." And I always think of her as Billie on the Showtime series "Rude Awakening." Kelly Hu was the undercover CIA agent. We saw her last season on "Army Wives" as the fellow officer Jordana Davis who caught Frank's eye. She was also Chen Pei Pei on "Martial Law."

Steve recognized that Jaime Ray Newman is currently playing Dr. Zan Avidan on "Mental" and Dr. Tess Fontana on "Eureka." We'll see her in the fall as Kat one of the witches in "Eastwick." I remember her most as Mindy O'Dell, the dean's wife, on "Veronica Mars."
