Lots to love on TV this week, but 'Cupid' isn't one of them

So much TV, so not enough room on my TiVo. Let's get right to what's happening this week.

Nothing you can say can tear me away from "My Boys."

I've given this a lot of thought and I'm officially ready to declare "My Boys," which returns with new episodes next Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. on TBS as one of the three funniest comedies currently on television. ("30 Rock" and "How I Met Your Mother" are my other two).

Many of you have aptly titled "Samantha Who?," which returns to the schedule Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, "Samantha Where?" The show hasn't been on the air since December 1. ABC kept adding it to the schedule and taking it off to make room for epic long episodes of "The Bachelor." The funny comedy deserves more than a four month break in the middle of the season.

I'm going to miss Edie Britt.

We won't learn until April 19 whether Edie survived the strangulation/ car crash/electrocution (although I have to say it's not looking good is it?) on "Desperate Housewives." But we do know that Nicollette Sheridan has stated that she won't be returning to the show next season.

We've been waiting.

We've been waiting for "Dollhouse" to become the show we all so desperately want it to be. And let's be honest, we haven't exactly been waiting patiently.

It's not an exaggeration to say that at least once a day I quote "Arrested Development" to someone ("There's always money in the banana stand!"), wish the show was still on the air or cross my fingers that the much talked about "Arrested Development" movie really does happen.

Yesterday while I was watching this week's episode of "Gossip Girl" (Monday, CW, 9 p.m.), my husband came into the living room and said, "How old are they supposed to be?" I responded, "You are so over-thinking this show."

That's how we do it!

How absolutely perfect, perfect, perfect was last night's episode of "ER"? So perfect that I'm almost ready to pardon the show for all its past transgressions.

Okay before we get to today's column, I would like to pause for a moment to have a brief tête-à-tête with the producers of American Idol.

Let's start with the good news.

The second episode of Castle, the new series premiering tonight at 10 p.m. on ABC, is so much better than the pilot. And thank goodness.
