'Chuck' is pretty great in any dimension
Sing it with me now. "You all everybody. You all everybody."
While watching tonight's episode of Chuck, I broke into Drive Shaft's little ditty.
That's because Dominic Monaghan guest stars as rocker Tyler Martin at 8 p.m. on NBC. The episode is being billed as 3-D but I found the glasses slightly annoying (they make everything too dark) so I decided to watch it sans my cardboard specs. And the good news is it totally works. Chuck is a highly entertaining show and if it takes a gimmick like 3-D to get people to check it out, I'm okay with that. I just wanted to make sure you knew that if you don't have the glasses, you'll be fine. You'll miss out on a knife being thrown at you, but you'll be fine. However if you want the glasses, you can get them at any display of Sobe Lifewater. Find out more by clicking here.
It's a fun episode and a pure delight to see Monaghan as a much more light-hearted rocker. The episode addresses the cliff hanger the show left off on and offers a fun subplot featuring Jerome Bettis. I still fear the stakes aren't high enough on the show. I don't want to lose any of the characters but I know I became even more invested in Alias once I knew that no one was really safe. If you miss the episode, you can watch either a 3-D or a 2-D version of the show by clicking here after tomorrow night (February 3) at 8 p.m. ET.
Did you happen to catch the terrific Heroes (Monday, NBC, 9 p.m.) commercial last night that found the characters playing against football greats? It was highly entertaining (and by the way you can watch all the Super Bowl ads here). I wish I could tell you tonight's episode was as good as the ad touting the show's return, but it's not. Zeljko Ivanek begins his guest star stint at "The Hunter." He's rounding up heroes in a plot involving several familiar characters. It's actually a pretty decent episode but, to me, the show is long past the opportunity to hit the reset button -- it is so far gone it is going to be hard to win viewers back. I definitely had one of those (cue the whiny voice) "moooom do I have to watch 'Heroes'" feelings before watching the episode. I've had the episode for a few weeks now but it just seemed like SUCH a chore to give the show another chance. I'll be curious to hear what you think.
Last year when Medium (Monday, NBC, 10 p.m.) had its season premiere I talked about how the show was like the TV version of comfort food for me. I just plain like this show. I like the believable marriage between Joe and Allison. I like the crime of the week. And I like the performances. And after watching an episode, I feel satisfied.
As the show returns for a fifth season, I feel exactly the same way. I particularly love this season how the series continues to incorporate the child actors. Maria Lark is just terrific as middle daughter Bridget. The Dubois family life is truly the strongest part of the series. And, fun times, Max Casella, who I'll always remember as Vinnie on Doogie Howser, M.D., guest stars tonight.
Of the three returning shows, which one are you most looking forward to? Talk about it below. And after you've watched tonight's episodes, let me know what you think.

Did you notice that Daniel Dae Kim is still listed as a regular this year on Lost? What are your thoughts? Nicolas
Oh yes Nicolas I have noticed. You know all this does is fuel my personal belief that Jin is not dead and he would never leave me, such a devoted viewer. When I went back and watched the scene where the boat explodes in slow motion (gotta love that TiVo), I don't see Jin on the boat. Let me know if you draw the same conclusion. Word is we will see Daniel Dae Kim this week but whether or not that's in the form of a flashback, a ghost or a very alive Jin who (please, please, please) somehow managed to swim to shore, well that remains to be seen. Oh and you can file this under interesting: Daniel Dae Kim is no longer listed a series regular on the ABC press website. Oh how they toy with my emotions.
Do you think Ben may have had Sayid's wife killed in order to create a reliable assassin? Joe
Absolutely I do. I in no way trust Ben and I think he lied to Sayid about who killed his wife to gain his trust. What do you guys think?
Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are eastern time for February 2-8
The stress of Monday night is officially in high gear. House celebrates its 100th episode at 8 p.m. on FOX. It seems really out of character that Foreman (Omar Epps) would switch the placebo drug with the real drug for Thirteen. What do you guys think?
So I'm hearing you guys liked the series premiere of Trust Me (Monday, TNT, 10 p.m.). If so, I think you'll really like tonight's episode which features more of Sarah Clarke (the ever fabulous Nina on 24) as Mason's wife. After you've watched the show, you can talk to the entire cast during a live webchat by going here.
Aimee Teegarden, Julie on Friday Night Lights, guest stars as a new West Beverly High student on 90210 (Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the WB). Please let her break up Annie and Ethan. Please let her break up Annie and Ethan. Please let her break up Annie and Ethan. Thank you for your cooperation Aimee.
Well it's time for me to tune in. It's finally time to go to Hollywood on American Idol (Tuesday at 8 p.m. on FOX). And remember this year we have two full weeks of Hollywood. The final 36 will be announced next Wednesday, February 11.
The team deals with a man who stole money from a charity on Leverage (Tuesday, TNT, 10 p.m.). And good news for those of you who like the series, today TNT officially picked up Leverage for a second season.
I'm willing to accept the fact that ABC aired the episodes of Life on Mars (Wednesday, ABC, 10 p.m.) out of order. If you were new to the series, last week's episode would have been much easier to follow. Remember there will be no show for us to watch if more people don't start tuning in. But this week's episode should begin to answer some of the questions that were poised when the show went on its winter hiatus last year.
Life returns to the schedule Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC. Detectives Crews (Damian Lewis) and Reese (Sarah Shahi) try to figure out who shot down a NASA pilot.
Jon Hamm begins his three episode guest star stint as Liz's new neighbor on 30 Rock (Thursday, NBC, 9:30 p.m.).
That's all for today. I'm back on Wednesday with this week's familiar faces (did you spot someone from Saturday Night Live in an unlikely place), talk about how this season of 24 is progressing, and much more. Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a topic for discussion? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com.

Yes. Medium is back!. Finally something worth watching on mondays at 10.
Good to know Chuck is fine without the 3D gl***es. They're not available in Canada.
Still devoted to Heroes for all it's faults, it's still damn good to me
I am very glad to see the return of "Medium". The show is perfectly done, Patricia Arquette is a hottie and second only to "ER" as favorite show. It's gr8 to see it back!!

Question:
- What WAS the cliff hanger on Chuck? I can't even recall.
Oh, and what happened on the last Medium? Where did the show leave off?
You know, while watching the commercial for Heroes yesterday, I turned to my husband and said something along the lines of, "If only they put as much care and talent into each script as they are putting into promotions." The ad was great--I'm sorry to hear that episode isn't.
Can't wait for Chuck. By the way, totally disagreed with your review of The Office last night. Thought it was the best episode since Casino Night.
Amy, I'm glad to hear you also had problems with those 3D gl***es. I tried using them during a commercial for a 3D movie during the Super Bowl, and they really DID make everything too dark. I couldn't tell what was going on at all. I'll just watch Chuck with my own eyes.
Leverage is actually quite an entertaining show. It aims to be light-hearted diversion and hits its mark perfectly.
If you like the movie "Oceans 11" or other heist/con job type of films with a humorous slant, then Leverage is for you.
I do watch all 3 of these shows. But without a doubt, the show I am most excited to see is Medium. I have been counting the days for its return. This show just gets better and better. I love Chuck, but he can't beat out the Dubois family. As far as Hereos goes, I put off watching it as long as possible even though I know they have improved this season from last. But still. I have to talk myself into watching it.
