Pucker Up! What are your favorite TV kisses?
Love makes the TV story line go 'round.
Without it, the supply closets would go unused on Grey's Anatomy. The siblings would all only have each other to fight on Brothers & Sisters. Ted wouldn't have anything to talk to his children about on How I Met Your Mother. And Gossip Girl's website would be empty.
And whether the romance is in the shape of a triangle, unrequited, forbidden, will they or won't they or a total surprise eventually there's some kissing involved.
We've talked about this before but it's such a fun topic that once again, in honor of Valentine's Day, here are some of my all time favorite TV kisses ( if you've been reading my column for awhile, you've definitely seen some of these before).
Tony and Michelle on 24 in "Day 2 2-3 a.m.": So CTU isn't exactly the most romantic place for love to blossom but when Tony follows Michelle around the corner to comfort her and they begin kissing well my heart fluttered a little. It was the beginning of my love affair with Tony and makes us understand Tony's current mental state all the more. I also loved this moment because of it pretty much captured how ridiculous the show can be -- the world is ending but let's make out!
Luke tells Lorelai he's "all in" on Gilmore Girls in "Written in the Stars": I'm cheating a little on this one because they don't actually kiss in this moment but I still think this is one of the most romantic TV moments ever. Luke takes Lorelai on their first official date and he tells her, "This thing we got going here, you and me, I just want to let you know that I am in." After years of wanting them together, Luke finally said what we had all been waiting to hear.
Donna and Josh on The West Wing in "The Cold": If this series had ended without Josh and his girl Friday together we would have demanded a recount. And it all began with this kiss.
Veronica and Logan on Veronica Mars in "M.A.D.": Jason Dohring is the only actor I've ever met and actually blushed while I was talking to him. I'm blushing now just thinking about it. I blame this sexy scene that found Logan and Veronica kissing in the Neptune High bathroom. (P.S. The reason I'm not talking about the potential Veronica Mars movie is because I'm afraid if I talk about it I will jinx it. So let's all pretend like I never said anything, okay?)
Jim and Pam on The Office in "Casino Night": In a surprise move Jim confesses his love for Pam and kisses her. It was so painfully real, that our hearts broke right along with his.
Sydney and Vaughn on Alias in "Double Agent": After finally getting together in "Phase One," viewers are treated to their little seduction in Sydney's kitchen.
Buffy and Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer in "Tabula Rasa": As the camera panned away from Michelle Branch singing the apropos "Goodbye to You," and snuck around the corner, viewers saw Spike and Buffy hungrily kiss. The lustful duo have had their share of fiery moments (and sweet ones like in "Once More With Feeling"), but this kiss demonstrated their mutual attraction at its most base level.
Kate and Sawyer on Lost in "Confidence Man": Since then they've done more than kiss, of course. And sure they only kissed because Sawyer said he wouldn't give up his stolen inhalers unless he got to lock lips with Kate, but it was a sizzling screen moment. And it's why even when they're miles away, Jack just can't get over the feeling that Kate would rather be with Sawyer.
Pacey and Joey on Dawson's Creek in "Stolen Kisses": In the best story line to ever come out of "The Creek" Pacey falls for his best friend's girl. After telling Pacey that he makes her feel alive, he announces that he's going to start kissing her in ten seconds and begins counting . . .
Kevin and Scotty on Brothers & Sisters in "Date Night": Their relationship is groundbreaking in its utter normalcy. Who couldn't relate when Scotty said, "I love this part when you look at someone and they don't look away."
Ross and Rachel on Friends in "The One Where Ross Finds Out": Sure, by the time the series ended we were so over this couple but on November 9, 1995, Ross and Rachel were television's It Couple. After a drunken Rachel leaves a message on Ross's machine that she's over him, Ross utters the classic line "You're over me? When we're you under me?" Then he goes to the Central Perk and looks longingly at her through the window, Rachel wrestles with the locks, before flinging open the doors. The two kiss in the pouring rain. Years later, that moment is still perfect.

Friday Night Lights
I have another TV secret to confess.
When I really really like a show sometimes it works its way into my dreams. While I've slept I've attended West Beverly, stayed at the Dragonfly Inn, visited Sunnydale, and solved a crime in the 15th precinct. It's actually not an exaggeration to say I eat, sleep and breathe television.
Anyway last night I dreamed I was in Dillon, Texas hanging out with Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch). Don't get too excited. It was a totally chaste dream. Although he did give me his football jersey, which I did think was really nice of him.
But I think I dreamed about Tim Riggins because I was feeling some guilt that a whole week had gone by without talking about the incomparable Friday Night Lights. If you thought you cried last week when Smash headed off to college, just wait for the story arc that begins this Friday (9 p.m. on NBC) with Jason Street. The four upcoming episodes that focus on Street's goodbye are poignant, hilarious (Riggins talking about Gypsy is one of my favorite scenes ever) and compelling. Set your DVRs now.
Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are Eastern Standard Time for February 9-15
Is it wrong that I was so excited that Dan and his not-really-ex-teacher started making out on Gossip Girl (Monday, CW, 8 p.m.). I think that moment juxtaposed with the headmistress announcing that the teacher wasn't fired after all is exactly the kind of over the top, soapy storyline the series should engage in. And if it keeps Serena and Dan apart for good, well that's just a bonus. I think the show is a little bit of trouble with the Chuck character. I'm not that excited for the Chuck's father secret society mystery, are you? Chuck is at his best when he's sparring with Blair but that dynamic can grow tiresome if they don't advance their relationship which they really can't do because who really wants to see Chuck and Blair live happily ever after. In this week's repeat (Monday at 8 p.m. on the CW), Chuck and Blair try to find the perfect dates for each other.
Matt Lanter joins the cast of 90210 (Tuesday, CW, 8 p.m.). The CW is billing him as "the Dylan McKay for the new generation." He's the bartender at the hotel where Naomi is living and anyone who watches TV knows he will quickly become her romantic interest as well. While I think it's good that the show is adding a new resident bad boy because somehow they ended up without one, I still want the real Dylan McKay to visit Beverly Hills. And if by chance you missed this, the Jonas Brothers will be hosting the night.
Robert Buckley, Kirby on Lipstick Jungle, begins his guest star stint on Privileged (Tuesday at 9 p.m. on the CW). He's the new editor at the magazine Will's father is starting up. I'm sad to see Charlie leave the show but even more sad about how Will behaved in last week's episode, aren't you? I do still love the show though and now is the time to support it. This is the last new episode before the season finale on February 24.
So how are you feeling about Lie to Me. I like that they actually have two cases that they work on per week but it's already a little too gimmicky. Maybe every little expression a person makes does mean something but it's kind of exhausting to hear about it. The show would be wise to make Cal Lightman more likable and less of a pompous know-it-all. They have some time to make that happen since the show is preempted this week in favor of a two hour American Idol (Wednesday, FOX, 8 p.m.) when the final 36 are revealed.
So I've become slightly obsessed with Glenn Close's hair in Damages (Wednesday, FX, 10 p.m.). Has anyone else noticed that it's constantly changing in length. That being said I am still loving this season, how about you?
Do you think we should be concerned that George had one line in last week's episode of Grey's Anatomy (Thursday, ABC, 9 p.m.). I would think Izzie's current medical crisis would be a perfect way to reintroduce him to the show because if we don't see more of him soon I'm definitely going to have form a TV Gal Search Party. Also doesn't it seem a little soon for Callie to be declaring herself to be celibate. It wasn't too long ago that she slept with Erica and McSteamy on the same day. I'm just saying. I actually kind of like the idea for the crossover but it does seem like it would have been easier if Private Practice aired before Grey's Anatomy and not vice versa. Wouldn't Derek go to the patient instead of bringing the patient to Derek. Addison, Naomi and Sam all stop by Grey's Anatomy. Dr. Karev, Dr. Bailey, Dr. Webber, Dr. Sloan, and Dr. Shepherd all appear on Private Practice (Thursday, ABC, 10 p.m.).
I am liking Dr. Brenner more and more but I'm pretty sure that's because the series has given him a personality transplant. He's definitely not the jerky doctor who first arrived on the scene last season. Eriq Lasalle directed this week's ER (Thursday, NBC, 10 p.m.) and Dr. Carter checks in next week.
That's all for today. I'm back on Wednesday with this week's familiar faces. Also coming this week a review of Dollhouse (let's all take a deep breath and not panic) and thoughts on Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week or a topic for discussion? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com. Talk to you on Wednesday.

What about Family Ties: Michael J. Fox and Tracey Pollen (Alex and Ellen)--most romantic moment was a the train station.
Don't forget about Survivor starting its new season on Thursday.
Tracy -
I knew there was a reason I heart TVgal's fans! That was one of my favorite kisses too! (Totally hearing "at this moment" in my head right now :)
I loved the Angel/Cordelia kiss in 'You're Welcome'. I also loved the Kate/Sawyer moment, the Ross/Rachel kiss you mentioned, and the kiss shared between Bones and Booth during that Christmas episode in 'Bones'.
But my number 1 TV kiss has gotta be the Jack/John kiss in Torchwood's 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'. SMOKING HOT!
Oh Amy, I love you! I've been wondering how lame I actually am because I have a recurring dream that I'm friends with Liz Lemon. You and your dreams make me feel so much less lame.
That is the 3rd time in the past monthy you have ended your column saying that you would be giving your thoughts on Housewives and B&S in the next, but you never do. What's up with that?
Amy, I am in total agreement with you on Veronica and Logan, but have to say my favorite kiss is the very first one in "Weapons of Cl*** Destruction" outside the motel room. That's the one that made my heart flutter.
I almost forgot - the Willow/Tara kiss in 'Entropy' of BtVS was also very, very sweet.
I like Damages, but not nearly as much as last season. It's felt like work to watch it this year, when it never did before. Plus, the season long mystery of who Ellen shot isn't nearly as big as who killed David and tried to kill Ellen. Still a good show, but not as great as last year.
OK, first of all - I have to weigh in with not my favorite TV kiss but the worst, most awkward kiss I've seen in a long time. It happened last Friday on "Ghost Whisperer" between Melinda and Jim and there was absolutely no p***ion behind it whatsoever. I swear for a moment or two their lips were not even touching. Worst - kiss - EVER.
