Wednesday Potpourri - your questions, familiar faces, and more!
Let's open the Ask TV Gal Mailbag
Please tell me this Cross-over event with Grey's and Private Practice is over soon. I hate hate hate it. I can't be the only one. And if Izzy is going to die, maybe they'll let the audience vote on how...perhaps we can make her death as excruciating and drawn out as this storyline of hers. On could only hope. Will this week be worth the time I've wasted the past month? Rebecca
Well, Rebecca, the good news is the crossover event does wrap up this week and both shows will be in repeats for the next couple of weeks. While rumors of Izzy's death continue to circulate, we still don't have confirmation about whether she'll be exiting Seattle Grace via a body bag if at all. But I agree with you -- this story line needs to wrap up immediately. It's incredulous to me that her illness has basically consumed the entire season. I honestly can't remember a story line that dragged on for this long. I don't know if this week's episode will be worth our time but I can tell you that two of my favorite actresses guest star on Private Practice this week. We'll see both Emma Caulfield (Anya on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Marin Hinkle (Judith on Two and a Half Men and Judy on Once & Again) so at least that bodes well.
I NEED to know WHY House is at the beach. Do you think you could find out for me....Amanda
Well since you need to know, I can tell you it's an episode that guest stars Mos Def as the patient of the week and that House doesn't find this patient at his hospital. Executive producer Katie Jacobs told me it's a very different type of episode for the series and the entire episode will have a rather fanciful feel. Jacobs also said there's a big surprise coming up towards the end of the season and it is "something that will rock House."
I was just watching Kyle XY and saw the previews for the next week, but it says, "The Final Episodes." Are they canceling that show too? Chelle.
Yes Kyle XY has been canceled. This third season will be its last. ABC Family will be debuting two new series -Sophie and Roommates -- on March 23. Greek returns March 30 and Lincoln Heights will be back this summer.
Ask TV Gal Update
I got this question awhile ago so I just wanted to let you guys know that USA has announced that Law & Order: Criminal Intent will return with new episodes on April 19.
Wednesday Musings
Sure only one episode has aired but do you already have a favorite Amazing Race team? Right now I'm rooting for Mike and Mel, Margie and Luke and Brad and Victoria. How about you? Sunday night's premiere was such fun. I am amazed that I'm still so intrigued by this show. What did you think of Sunday's premiere?
I've come up with a game to play. Let's see how many hand gestures and facial gestures we learn about on Lie to Me show up on the judges and contestants on American Idol.
Where Have I Seen Them Before?
Sam Anderson, Bernard on Lost, is the father with cancer who didn't want his daughter to know he was sick on Grey's Anatomy. We also know Anderson because he played Holland on Angel.
Abigail Spencer was the mother suffering from post partum depression on Private Practice. Spencer was the star of the Lifetime series Angela's Eyes. She also was on How I Met Your Mother as the crazy ex-girlfriend whose name Ted couldn't remember.
Candace recognized Dan Byrd as Luke on Heroes. Byrd was Justin last season on the still missed Aliens in America and Candace and I both remember when he played the young Collier on Any Day Now.
Hedy Burress was the woman whose car ran into the ambulance on ER. I remember her most as Wyleen on Boston Common. She was also Money Raspberry Dupree on Gideon's Crossing. Dennis recognized Michael Raymond-James as her brother. Raymond-James was Rene on True Blood.
Loretta and Chris were the first to catch Kari Matchett as Nate's ex-wife and Mark Sheppard as Jim Sterling on Leverage. I still remember Matchett the most as Dr. Mariel Underlay on Invasion. She was also the President's advisor Lisa Miller during the sixth season of 24, Kate on the short-lived series Heartland and Dr. Skye Wexler last season on ER. Sheppard is Romo on Battlestar Galactica, he was Tom last week on Burn Notice and you'll see him this Friday on Dollhouse. Alex Carter is the man working with Sterling on Leverage. He was Detective Vartann on CSI, Lieutenant Lindo on Lincoln Heights and we saw him on Burn Notice last week too as Jason Bly.
Diane recognized Kevin Corrigan as Joe's employee on Medium. He was Uncle Eddie on Grounded for Life and Whitey on The Black Donnellys.
Neil remembered Jimmi Simpson as the priest who had lost his faith in God on House. He was Liam McPoyle on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and we just saw him in the two CSI episodes that dealt with the transition from Grissom to Langston. He was the student who turned out to be helping the serial killer.
And that was an all grown up Jake Thomas as the teen who had accused the priest of abuse on House. He was Lizzie McGuire's brother on Lizzie McGuire.
Perhaps in all our excitement of seeing Agent Aaron Pierce back on 24 (he's one of my all time favorite characters. In my mind, he and the former First Lady are somewhere living happily ever after), you may have missed David Fury playing the potential client the President's daughter was talking to. Fury is a producer on 24 and we've seen him in front of the camera when he played the man who had mustard on his shirt in the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (where he was also a producer) and he played the newsman in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog.
Inside Joke of the Week
Tom and Jeff noticed that on last week's Numb3rs, one of the passwords used to get into a hacker's computer was LeonardSheldon4A which just had to be a shout out to The Big Bang Theory because Sheldon and Leonard live in Apartment 4A.

Being Erica premieres tomorrow night (Thursday) at 10 p.m. on SOAPnet and I have to say I kind of liked this dramedy about a 32-year-old who can go back and time and relieve the moments where she thinks she made critical errors in judgment. That's all for today. I'm back on Friday with this week's quotes, some concerns about The Office and 30 Rock, thoughts on Life on Mars, Damages, and more. Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com. Talk to you on Friday.

Also: Nick Brendon (Xander) and Mercedes McNab (Harmony) both formerly of Buffy, were on Criminal Minds. As was Michael Biehn, of The Magnificent Seven, Hawaii, Adventure, Inc...
Amy, I'm so glad you found CBC's Being Erica! I was going to email you about it, but I wasn't sure if it had made it across the border. :)
Ahhh...Jimmi Simpson. He will always be to me Lyle the Intern on "Late Show with David Letterman."
Loved the first ep of the new Amazing Race - hope they keep up having "real" challenges like the cheese thing - my heart was in my throat b/c I felt sure someone was going to get seriously injured - maybe it's sick of me to think that made for good tv but it did! And especially glad that this time the old geezers weren't the first ones gone.
Also, here's an idea - crossover between Numbers and The Big Bang Theory!!
Hey Amy,
Any update as to when we will be able to see the last episodes of "Eli Stone"?
Thanks,
Pietro
Alas Pietro, there is no news about when we will be able to see the final episodes of Eli Stone. I'll keep you posted.
Ah, man is that all the crazy mother from Private Practice (Abigal Spencer) has done? It was bugging me because she looked familar but I couldn't think of where I knew the actress. And I don't think it was either of those shows...
Will need to record Private Practice again, or does the crossover end during Grey's?
blah blah! I'm so glad you cleared that one up, because it was really bugging me where I had seen the postpartum depression mother on Private Practice before. She was "blah blah!"
Not only was David Fury on Buffy and in Dr Horrible..he was on a couple Angel episodes...most noticable as Gregor Framkin...the PUPPET master during SMILE TIME!!
Puppets people.
