What's up on Wisteria Lane?

Nealmcdonough_240 Let's talk Desperate Housewives theories.

Many of you have written to me that you think Dave (Neal McDonough) is there to exact revenge on Mike and Susan for killing his wife and daughter. But last night he indicated that perhaps Mike had killed his brother in prison.

What we do know is that he's OBSESSED with Mike, which I'm delighted with since it has put Mike front and center this season. All my worry over the summer that he would be written off the show was for naught. I should bill Desperate Housewives for my anti-wrinkle cream.

I'm loving McDonough who does the deceptively creepy, slow-burn bad guy very very well. I'm thrilled that it's Mrs. McCluskey who is plotting to bring down. But I'm a little concerned that this season's mystery could possibly be that obvious.

What do you think is going on on Desperate Housewives? Talk about it below.

Ask TV Gal

Joannagarcia_privileged_240 So, my wife discovered Gilmore Girls via Netflix a few months back and fell in love. She has been mowing through the seasons and is rapidly approaching the end. What can I suggest as another series she can watch that may give her close to that level of satisfaction and fun? She is contemplating going back and watching all Northern Exposures but I think something more current would be better for her. Any suggestions? Sean

Sean, I am thrilled to report that the spirit of Gilmore Girls is alive and well in the new CW series Privileged (Tuesday, CW, 9 p.m.). The series comes to us from executive producer Rina Mimoun, who was a producer on Everwood, Dawson's Creek and, that's right, Gilmore Girls. The dialogue is smart and pop-culture savvy. The storylines are intriguing and the family dynamics are utterly realistic. It is definitely filling the void left in my TiVo when I said goodbye to Lorelai and Rory. To catch you up, Megan (the more charming by the minute Joanna Garcia) returns to her home town of Palm Beach and lands a job tutoring two very rich twins Rose (Lucy Kate Hale) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough). Megan is estranged from her father (John Allen Nelson), exasperated by her self-centered sister (Kristina Apgar), oblivious to the feelings of her best friend Charlie (Michael Cassidy) and often intimidated by her boss Laurel (Anne Archer). I caught up with the show over the weekend and I'm thrilled to report that it is getting stronger every week -- just what you like to see in a new series. Last week's dinner scene between Megan and her family was punch-in-the-stomach painful to watch but so darn believable. And what I really love about the series is that they continue to avoid the after-school special ending. Sage still doesn't like Megan. Lily did steal the bracelet. And the principal turned out to be a real sleaze. If you haven't checked out the show yet, give it a chance and let me know what you think. What do you think of Privileged? Talk about it below. Also, check out this clip from the show and interviews with JoAnna Garcia , Ashley Newbrough and Lucy Kate Hale.

Mollyshannon_selmablair_kathandkim_ Question of the Day

Do you think the TV universe is trying to keep things in balance by canceling The Ex-List on week and picking up Kath & Kim for the FULL season the next? As you may recall back on July 28, I fearlessly predicted that the show would never even air. How wrong I was? Now I don't know anyone watching Kath & Kim do you? Does anyone out there like this show? I need to understand why in the name of all things right and TiVo we are going to be stuck with this show for the entire season.

Discussion Topic of the Day

Hughlaurie_house_s5_240 On a scale of one to ten, ten being totally freaked out, how worried are we about the kiss between House (Hugh Laurie) and Cuddy. I'm at about a six. I've never particularly wanted House and Cuddy together. Have you? And he was just so awful to her during the last episode. I know being awful and saying cruel things that cut to the bone is what the man does but he was so particularly cruel to Cuddy during this episode that I found it a very odd time to introduce a kiss between the two of them. What did you think of the kiss? Do you want House and Cuddy together? Talk about it below.

I do have some very exciting news on the House front for you. It seems that next week's episode will have a lot of stuff going on between Cameron and Chase -- finally!

Highlights of the Week Ahead

All times listed are Eastern Standard Time for November 3-9

Sarahchalke_scrubs_240 Stella (Sarah Chalke) is back on How I Met Your Mother (Monday at 8:30 p.m. on CBS). I'm kind of bummed she's not the mother. Are you?

Hooray! Tina Fey appearances on Saturday Night Live seems to have translated into ratings for 30 Rock. If you missed any of this season, you can catch Tina as Sarah Palin and other memorable skits in Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008 (Monday, NBC, 9:30 p.m.)

I don't know if this is exactly something to be proud of but the CW is the only major network airing original episodes of their shows Tuesday night. You can catch new episodes of 90210 and Privileged beginning at 8 p.m. As much as I enjoy both shows, I say tape those and watch the election results live.

Sarahshahi_damianlewis_life_240 The story this season is how nobody is returning to shows in their sophomore season -- particularly the ones who didn't return after the writer's strike was over. Well I say tune into Life, which moves to Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC this week. The show has returned strong and with its over arching mystery in tact. But the good news is if you've never seen the show you don't need to know the big mystery (Detective Charlie Crews was wrongly convicted of murder and served time for a crime he didn't commit. Now he's trying to figure out who set him up and who was really behind the murders. And somehow his partner's father is involved), you will still be thoroughly entertained by how Charlie solves the crime of the week. Check it out this week and you'll even catch a cameo from Erik Estrada.

So how are we liking the new character Riley Adams (Laurel Lee Smith) on CSI (Thursday, CBS, 9 p.m.)? I'm not against her but I can feel the show struggling to establish her character in the wake of all the cast departures. Honestly does anyone show that much attitude the first day on the job? My guess is that Grissom will leave Las Vegas to join Sara but in the mean time Melinda Clarke reprises her role of Lady Heather this week. Also keep an eye out for Peyton List, who plays Jane on Mad Men.

Parmindernagra_er_240_2 I'm happy that we got to see a more at peace Ray and that Neela (Parminder Nagra) and Ray talked about what had happened between them but like many of you said, I do feel a bit cheated. We still never got to see those characters together because that stupid Dr. Brenner knocked on her door. I so can't like his character and I really want him off the show. I don't even know why he's there. We don't need him mucking up the final season of the show. Boooooo Dr. Brenner. Boooooo. I'm thinking Neela can move to New Orleans at the end of the season. Who's with me? This week on ER (Thursday, NBC, 10 p.m.) Archie helps Greg's brother Chaz .

That's all for today. I'm back on Wednesday with this week's familiar faces and to take a look at Ugly Betty, what's coming up on Ghost Whisperer and much more. Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com.

House shouldn't be together with anyone (that he doesn't pay for anyway). I really hope House and Cuddy don't end up in a relationship. My concern level is about an 8.

Kath & Kim is only a slightly better idea than Cavemen. The show should have been axed. I don't know anyone that watches it.

My theory on the inexplicable Kath & Kim pickup? It's hard to fill a half-hour slot when nearly all of your shows and concepts are hour-longs.

I have it on in the background after Earl but before I switch over to Supernatural. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the reason for its success. That and the fact that bad shows get renewed all the time, while good shows like HIMYM struggle for renewal each spring.

Speaking of HIMYM, I never thought Stella was the mother, so I'm not bummed at all. I did love the reveal with Stella and the two blond kids that would have been Ted's.

I'm glad Stella's not the Mother on HIMYM because if she were then there would have to be a boatload of retcon in order to make it work that the Mother had a child from a previous relationship. I like Sarah Chalke a lot but I'm still happy she isn't the one.

The "kiss" between House and Cuddy was awful! I never wanted them together either but I did expect more from that "kiss". There was no chemistry at all and to me it had a very heavy yuck factor.

BOOOO...Dr Brenner....I agree with our beloved TV Gal....it is a stupid character...waste of time....he should be hit with a sexual har***ment suit and bounced from County General.

First post - woo hoo! Loving Privileged - first few weeks I kept expecting the predictable turn of events every time the drama amped up - I am so completely surprised by the very surprising and very real turn of events - especially the dinner scene. Am loving this show more and more each week.

I'm somewhat embarr***ed to admit it since everyone else has been praising DH this season, but I gave up on the show early on. I LOVE Neal McDonough (great actor!), so it made it all that much harder, but I found myself absolutely bored during the first few eps, so I haven't watched it since even though Tivo has still been recording. Still, I highly doubt I'll go back and watch. I was disappointed in the completely not-shocking Bree storyline (I miss the days when she did things like walk into a strip joint and sit down with her son, circa season 1), the ridiculous Susan relationship with the 40-year-old whose character is sketched like a 15-year-old skater boy, and Lynette's ridiculous shenanigans like chatting with her son online about love. Like Bree, Lynette once had some really interesting yet impressively effective approaches to parenting and marriage that seem to have been pushed aside for cheap laughs. I'm also not really getting much out of the Gaby-Carlos siutation, I think it possibly needs to be treated with just a bit more depth and drama than it has and maybe a few less cheap jokes at the blindness and the childhood obesity. Of course, as I said, I gave up after a few eps, so maybe they are doing better now.

I thought LIFE was moving to Wednesdays at 9 pm? I was sure because I remember it's in the same time slot as Criminal Minds and I was having a hard time deciding which to record and which to watch.

BTW, I'm rather peeved at NBC for pre-empting Chuck and Heroes with the 'Presidential Bash.' The last thing I want the night before the election is candidate parodies I've already seen. During November sweeps, no less!

I say watch 90210 and Privileged - We need to show that now all the networks need to show the results of the election - leave it to CNN and Fox news - everything else should be new programming!

I love Kath and Kim. I have to say it was like the office, the more I watch it and get to know the characters the funnier it gets. I know a lot of people who are loving it. The Sade joke this week was priceless.
