Reporting in for the season finale of 'Army Wives'
I am not pleased with the ads for the season finale of Army Wives (Sunday at 10 p.m. on Lifetime).
The whole "last season they lost one of their own. Now they face heartbreak again" tagline is making me very very nervous.I know it's a soap opera and if everything was happy-go-lucky we wouldn't have a reason to tune in. But haven't these ladies had enough trauma (death, more death, even more death, addiction, assault) for one season.
I'm most concerned that either Frank, Michael, or Jeremy might not live to see next season. Frank seems in the most danger because he's in Iraq and his death would provide much dramatic fodder for Denise who is just starting to experience life without Frank. Something happening to Jeremy would bring Denise and Frank together again but I don't think the series should have another child die. I don't think it could be Michael because Claudia Joy has already suffered the loss of her daughter and I really don't want her character to suffer any more. (Not to mention that Kim Delaney already suffered so much on All My Children and NYPD Blue. One of her characters deserve a moment of happiness, don't you think?).
Who are you most worried about on Army Wives? Talk about it below.
I think it was a really bad decision to make Nick (Peter Krause) head of Darling Enterprises on Dirty Sexy Money. The heart of the show is Nick's struggle to stave off the temptation of the Darling family so I'm a little concerned that he's already capitulated to so many of their demands.
What do you think of Dirty Sexy Money this season? Talk about it below.
Quotes of the Week
"I watched 'Boston Legal' nine times before I realized it wasn't a new 'Star Trek.'" Tracy to Liz on 30 Rock.
"I don't know. Honestly things haven't been that different without you." Betty to Don when he asks to come home on Mad Men.
"I love you and I want to be with you." Pete to Peggy on Mad Men.
"But then again I do have these bad days." Holly (Patricia Wettig) to Nora on Brothers & Sisters.
"Why don't you just say it to get what you want. Frat guys have been doing that forever." Dan to Blair encouraging her to tell Chuck she loves him on Gossip Girl.
"Finish puberty somewhere else. Me and Mr. Big here need to talk" Catherine to Craig (played by Jason Lewis) on CSI. Thanks to Cindi for the quote.
"The bitch is back." Lyle to Claire about Elle (Kristen Bell) on Heroes. Thanks to Caroline and Gil who were very excited that this quote was also the title of the series finale of Veronica Mars.
"I hate to break it to you, but Shia LaBeouf... I think he's a little too old to play you in high school." Lucas to Nathan on One Tree Hill. Thanks to Clarisa for the quote.
That's all for today. Have a great Halloween and may lots of dark chocolate still be left in your treats at the end of the night. I'm back on Monday to talk about House (what is up with that kiss), ER (How do we feel about how they handled Ray's return?), Privileged (is this little show totally winning us over), CSI (do we like the new CSI?) and much much more. Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com.

Yay! Can't wait for you to spend a little more time on Privileged, Amy! I am really enjoying the show. Not groundbreaking, but much more interesting characters than the new 90210 for me!
I think making Nick the head of Darling Enterprises is perfect. My personal theory is that his dad faked his death and that's who Simon Elder is working with the taking down Darling Enterprises (obviously it's someone who knows the family well). That's why Simon first approached Nick about coming to work for him. This way, it will pit father against son and Nick's loyalties will really be tested.
Please do talk about privileged. It is such a sweet and enjoyable show. Much like The Nanny. And much like The Nanny, Marco is our Nigel and even though Sage is the sister in control, Rose is my favorite. Which one is your favorite, Amy? Megan, right?
I feel so cheated about how "ER" handled Ray's return. There is this phenomenal on-screen chemistry between Shane West and Parminder Nagra. From Ray asking Archie if Neela was single to their dancing in her apartment at the end. How could they throw all of that at us and then have him kiss her goodbye by saying, "I'm in a good place now and so are you." What was up with that?
Julia, that is a concept i hadn't thought of for DSM and would definitely be a good one! i am still enjoying that show, great writing.
Really loving Life on Mars too, it's my must watch THursday night now!
And the House/Cuddy kiss? NO CHEMISTRY....it was almost uncomfortable to watch. Am i the only one thinking that?
Dirty Sexy Money: Peter Kraus could read the phone book for an hour and I'd tune it.
err...I'd tune IN.
I have no problem with them making Nick the Darling heir (or whatever they're calling it). I think one of the strongest points/plots of the show is Nick's relationship with his wife. I like that they're finally giving his wife a bit of a storyline-a storyline that was mainly influenced because of all the crap she and Nick are going through. And now she's in bed (metaphorically) with the darlings her self. I'm excited to see where that goes.
I doubt that Nick heading the company will last. In fact I'm expecting him to p*** on it very soon.

Also, I am loving Gossip Girl this season. Last season was a little one-note with linear storylines in which characters rarely interacted with characters not in their plots. I'm also impressed that the writers have finally learned how to incorporate all the characters without leaving some just randomly out for lots of episodes at a time *cough jenny and vanessa cough*.
My only complaint is that 1. the adults aren't featured in the show nearly as much as they used to be and 2. The writers seem to still be struggling to put Vanessa in storylines (no matter how much they try). I thought her going into business with Chuck would help but that didn't happen. They need to do something with her stat or write her out. They found something to do with Jenny now that she's not at the school, so why can't they figure something out for Vanessa?
btw that tATu cover of "how soon is now?" sucked.
Nick wasn't made the head of Darling Enetrprises, was he? I thought he was given the position of Vice Chair which was previously held by Letitia Darling. She had to give up the position due to her arrest.
Over on the Army Wives blog, I have commented that the second season has not been as good as the first. I can tell that they have different writers this year because the storylines have become so daytime soap oper-ish. Many other viewers have complained that Denise has been acting more like a stupid, lovesick teenager than Emmalin. Also, it seems like the writers forgot that Pamela's character even exists and needs better storylines than being stalked by a crazy fan!
However, I did like how they developed Joan and Roland's relationship. The baby certainly brought them closer together, and now Joan is struggling to keep her status after maternity leave. Another good thing was showing more interaction between Emmalin and her parents after Amanda's death.
The previews seem to suggest that someone MIGHT die in the finale. However, I think that the character will end up dying in next year's premiere episode. I have had a feeling ever since Jeremy enlisted that the writers might have him killed in Iraq, hoping to bring Denise and Frank back together as a couple. If that does happen, then I would say it's lazy writing, since CJ and Michael just lost Amanda in a violent manner last year. I don't think it could be Frank or Chase, since that would mean either Denise or Pamela would be widows and no longer be able to live on the Army post. I still have no clue who could be killed off, but hopefully, none of the kids. :-(
