It's Time for Another Edition of Fearless Predictions
When I was in LA, I was at dinner with some of my friends when the conversation turned to what new show we thought might be cancelled first.
Somebody picked Kath & Kim. I proclaimed, "I'll take that one step further. I say Kath & Kim will never see the light of TV. NBC will never air it."
Gasps ensued. Okay not really gasps because after all this is just TV we were talking about but people were shocked by my bold entertainment prophecy. They didn't know how much I love a fearless prediction.
I don't care that NBC has set a premiere date of October 9. I don't care that it stars Molly Shannon and Selma Blair. I'm ready to throw down on this one. I'm getting the same vibe from Kath & Kim than I got from that 2005 NBC comedy Thick & Thin that starred Jessica Capshaw, Sharon Gless and Martin Mull. NBC never aired that one either. Or The Singles Table that starred at one point Alicia Silverstone. I see the same fate for Kath & Kim.
I think this is going to be the wackiest fall we've had in a while. Shows that still haven't finished filming their pilot debut in about a month. Shows we haven't seen in more than eight months are trying to win back viewers. And unlike seasons past, there's no show garnering that much buzz, excitement or even curiosity. There's no Lost. No Pushing Daisies. No Gossip Girl. No hot new star to watch. No show that I instantly loate (althought CBS's The Ex List does have an early lead on that one).
People are most excited about Dollhouse (and really how can you not be excited about the new series from Joss Whedon starring Eliza Dushku) but that doesn't even premiere until January.
So I'm taking fearless predictions if you have them. Will Heroes make a triumphant return or go out with a whimper? Will people return to Private Practice? Will CSI survive the biggest cast change its had to date?
Any and all speculations are welcome. Post your fearless predictions below.
Great TV Debates
What's the best comedy of all time? The best drama?
If you could only take a DVD set of one TV show to deserted island, what would it be?
What comedy do you always stop to watch -- no matter how many times you've seen an episode?
Who is your favorite TV couple? Your favorite TV detective? The best TV dad?
Since we always have such fun discussions, I thought we could take the month of August to get some good conversations going.
My first topic is: What is your favorite TV guilty pleasure of all time?
For me it's a tie between Suddenly Susan and The Nanny. Both are comedies I didn't really watch until they hit syndication. And for some reason there was something so comforting about watching sitcoms that predictable right before going to bed.
Whenever I see Currie Graham (as I just did in the new TNT series Raising the Bar premiering September 1), I immediately think of when he played Nate Knaborski in the final season of Suddenly Susan. As you know, over the years I've fallen for bad shows -- from Good Morning Miami to The Class. There's something about a just right bad sitcom that wins me over every time.
So what's your all time favorite guilty pleasure? Talk about below.

Highlights of the Week Ahead
All times listed are Eastern Standard Time for July 28-August 3
Daniel Baldwin guest stars as the father of a boy accused of rape on The Closer (Monday, TNT, 9 p.m.). Andrea Bowen, who we won't be seeing as Julie on Desperate Housewives next season (a causality of the five year jump), also guest stars in this powerful episode.
So are you still watching The Middleman (Monday, ABC Family, 10 p.m.) and more importantly, should I be? The show didn't win me over in its first couple of episodes but I've been hearing from a lot of you lately that I should give the show a second chance which I will be doing this week.
The moment is here! Someone, besides her monotone sister (did someone tell the actress that's how you act like a sullen teen), finds out that Amy is more than a little bit pregnant on The Secret Life of the American Teenager (Tuesday, ABC Family, 8 p.m.)
Eureka returns for a third season Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Sci Fi. I didn't love the season premiere (which guest stars Frances Fisher) but my guess is if you are a fan of the show, you will.
Talk about your guilty pleasures. Kate Jackson joins Jaclyn Smith as a guest judge on this episode of Shear Genius (Wednesday, Bravo, 10 p.m.). The contestants have to create a modern day version of the classic Charlie's Angels hairstyle.
Tragedy befalls one of the main characters of Mad Men (Sunday, AMC, 10 p.m.). It's a stellar episode that really showcases how good this cast is.
That's all for today. I'm back on Wednesday with familiar faces and to talk about the new season of Project Runway (are you in or out?). Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com and let me know. Talk to you on Wednesday.

Friends is my favorite show of all time but for some reason when King of Queens comes on, I just have to tune in. Kevin James is just too funny.
I also hate to watch those ET, THe Insider and Extra but for some reason when Access Hollywood is on, I tune in. I hate myself a little bit for that.
Guilty pleasure...
Hmm...well, I still watch reruns of Buffy and Angel. If it came on anymore, I'd probably watch reruns of Hercules and Xena, too.
But I guess my guiltiest pleasure is probably American Idol. Every year for the last three years I've sworn I wouldn't watch it anymore, but I inevitably do. Something about watching people humiliate themselves on national TV is irresistable.
Fearless Prediction: There will be no shows that debut in the fall on Network TV worth watching. I've already got too many on my plate!
Every mention of Suddenly Susan always reminds me of that most underrated comedy, Newsradio which was never supported by NBC the way they supported & promoted Suddenly Susan.
I just caught an episode of The Middle Man last week and really liked it. It's something that would become grating after multiple viewings of the same episode, but for one hour a week, I think it's great summer fun. And it's just kinda fun to hear someone say "Dub Dub"...
My favorite guilty pleasure is Dawson's Creek. I've never wanted to strangle a character more than Dawson Leery, but Pacey J. Witter always makes up for that.
I agree, the WB had my guilty pleasures; Dawson's Creek (the Pacey and Joey ending made it worth watching), Buffy, Angel, Felicity, and Gilmore Girls. I was way too old for those shows but loved them anyway
My favorite drama EVER is Buffy, of course! But my guilty pleasure is Supernatural - those Winchester boys are just yummy! As far as what I can't NOT watch when I come across it, no matter how many times I've seen it, is Charmed. I know that show got cheesy at times, but it knew how to have a good time and laugh at itself, and you gotta respect that! :) That said, I do prefer the episodes with Rose McGowan over Shannen Dougherty.
There's no such thing as a guilty pleasure. No one should ever feel guilty for anything they watch on TV. If you like it, then that's all that matters. Unless you watch One Tree Hill, then you should feel guilty.
Current guilty pleasure: Living Lohan. It's so mind numbingly awful I have no idea why I watch it. But I do.
Guilty pleasure? Easy -- DYNASTY!
