What the Locke is going on . . . the season finale of 'Lost'
Stop and don't read if you haven't watched Lost yet. And if you don't watch the show at all, check back in on Monday when I return to my regularly scheduled and (I promise) Lost-free column.
Okay still with me? Are you picturing me in a corner rocking back and forth? Because that's about right.
Remember earlier this season when they showed Sun at Jin's grave sight and I was so upset and you all wrote to me and said, "Don't worry Amy. Jin could still be alive. The date on the grave stone was the date of the plane crash."
The thing is I started to believe you and it took me out of my dark, dark TV place. So I'm going to need you to do that for me again.
Bring it on. Tell me that Jin was almost to the edge of the boat and could have jumped off. Tell me that, as the son of a fisherman, he's a strong swimmer and he could have made it back to the island. Tell me that he didn't get the big fitting final death scene that Charlie, Boone or Mr. Eko received. Tell me he's still alive. I want to believe you. I must believe you.
I haven't been this upset about a TV episode since Buffy dived to her death at the end of season five. I've got Lost under my skin. To me Jin running after the plane and Sun shrieking his name was the most heartwrenching scene the show has ever had. Yes Charlie was traumatizing last season. But Charlie had made some peace with the fact that he had to die. Jin wants to live.
Also I have to share this with you all because I know you'll understand. I actually had tickets to a play last night and TiVoed the finale. (Crazy right but I bought the tickets when the Lost finale was supposed to air May 22). Anyway I got home late, was exhausted and thought "well I'll just watched a little bit of the show and watch the rest in the morning."
What kind of black smoke was I smoking? The minute Kate backed up her car to yell at Jack, I knew I wasn't going to sleep any time soon. And I'm sorry if I woke you up with my screaming, "Run Jin. RUN!RUN! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
My other thoughts:
1. I actually had to confirm that it was still the same actor playing Walt because that kid has really grown up.
2. Do we think Desmond and Penny get a happily ever ending? Not so much right? This is Lost after all and Ben has vowed to kill her.
3. Are you a little afraid of Sun and what she's up to?
4. I love that just as the show tells us who is in the coffin, we already have another mystery. What did Sawyer whisper to Kate? What was the promise she made him?
5. Do you think Charlotte is Penny's sister and Charles' daughter?
6. Locke being the one in the coffin was a fantastic reveal. Did the island turn on Locke? Clearly the Oceanic 6 did not keep those left behind safe by lying about what happened.
Okay, bring on your comforting words about Jin and talk about the season finale of Lost below.
Quotes of the Week
"Good Lord it's like we died and went to 'Gossip Girl." Kappie walking into a frat party on Greek.
"Don't you bring him back Kate. Don't you dare bring him back." Clair to Kate on Lost.
Exchange of the Week
"Is he talking about what I think he's talking about?" Locke to Ben.
"If you mean time travelling bunnies, yes." Ben's response. Thanks to Barry for the exchange.
That's all for today. I'm back next week with a Lost free column to talk about the second season premiere of Army Wives (get your tissues out), the new CBS series Swingtown, the return of The Mole, So You Think You Dance and more. Don't forget to let me know what you think about In Plain Sight. Have a question or a topic for discussion? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com

I'd also like to nominate every single thing Miles said last night for the Quotes of the Week section! That guy is hilarious!
So many questions, too much time between now and the fall!
Jin HAS to still be alive!!! I'm comforting myself with a "he made it off the boat and swan to shore before the island disappeared" mantra.
I think Locke left the island and then died and that taking him back to the island will bring him back to life. But how did Locke and Ben get off the "moved" island in the first place? And why did Locke leave the island?
And...Yeah! Sawyer is still alive!
And what about the mysterious Richard and the "original" inhabitants of the island - what are they up to?
If they ALL have to go back to the island and if Claire HAD to raise Aaron, why did she appear to Kate saying not to take him back?
And what about Faraday and the others who were in the raft/boat between the island and the boat when the boat exploded and the island disappeared? Argh - I can't wait until fall to find out!
Don't feel bad - as if the Jin horror wasn't bad enough, for a long moment I didn't realize Desmond had made it to the helicopter and I was fully hyperventilating. I was immensely relieved to realize he was all right.
I hadn't thought about Charlotte being Penny's sister. Interesting.
Sun is fast becoming my favorite character. She has great potential.
I'm with the people who think Sawyer's request to Kate was related to his daughter somehow. I think he wants her to look after / check up on Clementine.
So not going to make it until 2009. I might not even make it until the DVD comes out in the fall.
OMG Sun teaming up with Widmore was so creepy... Sun has evolved into a really fascinating character and quite bad*** compared to the mousy follower she was back in season 1.
Love! Love Loved the Finalie
Okay I agree I didint think desmond was on the coptor either and how good was it for Penny to show up didint think that would happen. I kind of thought it was Locke all the way from Last season but still a good twisit I knew it because Terry O quin must have some good screen time. Amazing! Show!
Somewhere else on zap2it someone suggested that maybe Daniel picked Jin up in the raft, and I like that idea. And I agree with you, Amy, that Jin musn't be dead because 1) that just sucks, but 2) if he has to be dead he deserves a MUCH better death.
Jin's fate aside, that was an awesome episode. I am so impressed with the whole story arc of this season, and while the finale introduced a lot of new mysteries, it also resolved a lot of things. I actually feel pretty content with where things stand... not that I'm not dying to know how Locke got in the coffin!
Sun has always been a little bit Manipulative and has always had a dark side. We know shes capable of lying being manipulative and everything else. I mean she lied to her husband about english shes Killed an other had an affair has slapped people around- Micheal, Juliet, Jin, Sawyer. So this is just great to see her totally go evil.
I don't think Jin is dead. I think that after Christian Shephard appeared to Michael before the bomb went off on the freighter, that he beamed anyone that was related to or on the island (Michael, Jin) back to wherever or whenever the island is now.
I am totally with you in the corner coming up with excuses as to how Jin must have survived. And I was right with you MK freaking out about Desmond! I did not see him in the helicopter and kept asking my friends where he was, frantic and afraid that he died too!
I believe someone already has deciphered what Sawyer said to Kate and it was something about having a daughter and getting in contact with her.
