Sararamirez5_greysanatomy_240_2 Pucker up because I'm ready to discuss more season finales.

And this kiss (this kiss) is on my lips -- don't read until you've watched the Grey's Anatomy and Reaper season finales.

Grey's Anatomy: Overall: It's all about the kissing. What worked: I really love the story line of the two teens with brain tumors. It was heartbreaking (poor Linc's son), touching and unpredictable. The patient trapped in cement was also compelling and a nice parallel to what Callie was going through. That kind of medical crisis that bring the team together is what the show does best and really allowed Miranda (who remains my favorite Grey's character) to shine. Although the therapy scenes had some of the show's frustrating banter, I liked Meredith's revelation about her mother and the effect her childhood has had on her. And it's great to see Christina out of her funk and the Chief telling Erica that she's been a bad supervisor. What didn't: The show remains the kind of series that seems to think a character's grandiose speech can make up for any lack of character development or a sudden change of direction. I'm still not sure how the Chief's monologue to his wife made any kind of sense. I'm too over (as Carrie Bradshaw would say I need a new word for over) Meredith and Derek to care that they are back together and I'm not in the mood to see George pursue any kind of romance with Lexie (who remains even more annoying and whiny than Meredith, who even knew that was possible). And to me the verdict is still out on Callie and Erica because the show seemed totally committed to having Callie come to understand the depth of her feelings for Erica out of McSteamy's threesome talk. How the show is looking for next season: For the most part the show is looking up and self-correcting some of its mistakes this season. My only question is it too little too late.

Bretharrison_reaper_240 Reaper: Overall: Um, who isn't a demon. What worked: I kind of love anything Ken Marino does and his Tony was a great addition to the show. I hope we see more of him  And I know this something many of us have to agree to disagree on but I just love Sock and the comic relief he brings to the show. What didn't: Sam really should have showed more sadness over the death of his father. A show like Reaper works best when the characters keep their emotions real amidst all the fantastical elements. And I'm a little concerned about these late in the season revelations -- Sam is the son of the devil, his parents might be demons too (or at least something is up with them) and by the way what happened to Benji's perfect-for-him girlfriend. How the show is looking for next season: If the show continues in the same overarching story arc theme which has given the viewer a compelling reason to to tune in each and every week, Reaper may be able to continue to live up to the promise of its pilot.

What did you think of the season finales of Grey's and Reaper? Talk about it below.

Quotes of the Week

"What we have witnessed is a knockout." Simon to the Davids on American Idol. Um, actually not so much Simon.

"This is so weird. I don't normally do plots against people." Dan to Blair on Gossip Girl.

"Haven't you heard? I'm the crazy bitch around here." Blair to Georgina on Gossip Girl.

Gio "That's just it. I don't want to be the rebound guy. I want to be the guy." Gio to Betty on Ugly Betty. Thanks to Jennifer who was the first to submit this week's most popular quote.

"Congratulations on your medical breakthrough. It's the stuff of legends." Rose to Meredith on Grey's Anatomy.

Exchange of the Week

"You know I've been told some wives ask their husbands for favors and actually say please." Tom to Lynette on Desperate Housewives.

Oh Tom, don't you know an urban myth when you hear one"? Lynette's response. Thanks to Michelle for the exchange.

That's all for today. I'm back on Monday (Memorial Day) with thoughts on more season finales and a review of the new USA show In Plain Sight. Have a question. Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week or a topic for discussion? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com. Have a great long weekend.

hmm first post?

No mention of Izzie and Alex in your Greys recap? That was the best part. I have wanted them together since he carried her out of Denny's room, okay maybe before that, but that scene totally sealed it for me.

The only thing I didn't like was the Lexie/George thing. So not feeling it.

Agreed MDEP. I am so tired of almost every woman on the show having to sleep with George at some point!

Amy, I have enjoyed reading your column for quite some time now. But your recent habit of starting sentences with "Um" is driving me crazy. It is bad enough in speech but in writing it verges on the unforgivable. Thanks.

Amy, I don't think that Sam is the devil's son. I think that his father was trying to hide the fact that he's a demon from his son, I think that while we might think it's possible that Sam is the son of the devil, ultimately I bet he won't be.

I agree with you that not enough emotion was shown regarding his father's death, which made it a lot less surprising to find out his dad wasn't dead at all at the end.

I'm hopefull for season two. The show definately has a lot of promise, but I don't think that it's fully realized it yet, so I'm glad it will get a chance to.

GA sucked, save the Alex storyline.

Doctors guarding a room so two teens can have sex? Stupid. The shrink knowing the real reason behind Momma Grey's attempted suicide, after having essentially no information? Stupid. Meredith having access to 8 bazillion candles and candle cups (all identical)? Stupid. The boy having "several tons of cement" on him (according to Bailey) but not being crushed in any way? Stupid. A female doctor deciding she is a lesbian based on some perverted man's talk about three way sex? Stupid.

I despised everything about that show except for the scenes with Alex and Rebecca.

Loved the "Grey's Anatomy" finale, but was I the only one around here and TVSquad who noticed a big mistake made by one of the characters? (Well, big to me, anyway.)

When Miranda Bailey gave her big speech to the kid in concrete about Han Solo and "Star Wars," she gets most everything right (frozen in carbonite, Kessel Run, his time on Hoth and his romance with Leia) and then says she's a big fan of sci-fi.

But Han Solo and Leia didn't have twins that saved the galaxy again. Anakin and Padme did at the end of "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," and those kids were the twins who we know better in Episodes IV-VI as Luke and Leia. I'm pretty damn sure this is what Bailey was referring to.

I'm surprised not one writer on "Grey's" noticed that gaffe.

Now, in the books that take place after "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" Han & Leia in fact do have three kids, two of which are twins, but they do nothing about saving no dang universe. Besides, nobody but mega-nerds even know about those books, and they are definitely not in the general public's pop culture knowledge.

I'm a nerd.

Excellent point, Kar. I hadn't even realized I was using "um" that much. I will definitely keep an eye out for this in future columns.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I looked forward to the Grey's finale so much and was so disappointed.

It was SO dark and SO depressing that I almost couldn't get throught the first hour.

I, too, don't like the idea of the doctor's guarding a room so teenagers can have sex nor do I like the rampant dishonesty between almost everyone in the hospital. Meredith (and Derek for that matter) knew that they were being allowed one more patient for the trial, but they both did it anyway. She lied when she told Derek she would okay it with the chief, and even when he CAUGHT her, there were no consequences.

I love the show but this last finale was a little dark and twisty even for ME. I found the last scene with Derek and Meredith ludicrous after he told her he never wanted to have anything to do with her again.

I'll be looking forward to next year, but this was REALLY disappointing.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon.

Talkbackers on other sites are claiming that despite the bit of false knowledge about Han/Leia's twins "saving the galaxy all over again," my idea of it being a "gaffe" is wrong as they are 100% Bailey has read the SW books as well. I still don't believe that's true, but I'm losing.

And this concludes the "goof about which nobody actually cares."

I didn't care too much for the GA finale. Callie decides she is/wants to be a lesbian because McSteamy talks about 3 ways? Whatever. Last season she was over the moon for George. I think they need to bring the therapist back for her. Lexie--what purpose does she serve on the show? Cristina--I may be in the minority, but I really don't like her. She's condescending & mean most of the time. Derek was an a-hole most of the night. Meredith is cured in what 1 or 2 weeks?? Yay! At least maybe now she won't be so whiny. Finally, Rebecca is gone. At the risk of being called a hater and told not watch the show if I don't like it...I will say that I LOVE Alex. I hope he and Izzie reconnect next season & the Izzie bashing stops. I LOVE Bailey. She's awesome in every scene. Please, please, please, let them give McSteamy something to do next season besides drive story for the other characters!!!! I will be watching next season to see what happens when all the kissing stops.
