Wouldn't you like to be a Walker too? A look at 'Brothers & Sisters'

Sallyfieldcalistaflockhart_brothers Kitty's a Walker. Justin's a Walker. Kevin's a Walker. Wouldn't you like to be a Walker too?

Like I've said before, I totally think I could be a Walker. I could arrive unannouced. Immediately become exasperated with Nora and roll my eyes just so. Then I could tease Justin and get angry with Kevin. Later, I would call Sarah and Rebecca on a three way conference call to rehash the whole thing. Brothers & Sisters evokes that reaction in me -- I want to be a part of the show and a part of the family.

The series returns Sunday at 10 p.m. on ABC with a strong episode. The last couple of weeks have proven that it's been challenging for some shows to return to form after the writer's strike while other shows have soared.

Brothers & Sisters is flying high. The opening minutes of Sunday's episode quickly advance the plot forward while rapidly jettisoning some storylines. I love the direction the Robert and Kitty arc is going in and really Steven Weber can do no wrong in my eyes. So I'm loving him (yet still somewhat suspicious of him) as Sarah's new boyfriend. I still think the series is struggling somewhat with what to do with Saul, he seems to be dancing in and around story lines without ever settling into one. But that's a very small quible about a series that I enjoy so much.

After you watch Sunday's episode, please let me know what you think and talk about it below.

Quotes of the Week

Marciacross_desperatehousewives_s4_ "Oh don't go Catholic. All that standing and kneeling and genuflecting. I go for worship not for a workout." Bree advising Lynette about religion on Desperate Housewives.

"Every second that banner stays up there is a permanent scar on our reputation. It's like a stretch mark." Ashleigh to Casey about having a social  with the physics geeks on Greek.

"I am not kidding. Got it a week after we started dating." Jim showing the engagement ring he bought for Pam on The Office. After this week's episode, I'm feeling much better about the show. Do you feel the same way ?

"We're like Ross and Rachel except not gay." Dennis to Liz about their on again/off again relationship on 30 Rock.

"I don't owe you a turd on Christmas." Carl to the drug dealer on My Name is Earl. Thanks to Toby for the quote. Toby and I agree the quote makes no sense but still totally cracked us up.

"I can't believe Earl tried to kill me. That's like peanut butter trying to kill jelly. They're in the same sandwich." Randy to Joy and Darnell on My Name is Earl. Thanks to Ginni for the quote.

"I accidentally ate her yogurt the other day and she bent back all my fingers." Sam to Dena about Andrea in Samantha Who? Thanks to Laura for the quote.

I don't think I stopped smiling the whole rest of the night after the Jim/Pam storyline on the Office last night. Although, if I'd been Pam and Jim had done the whole 'tying his shoes' bit to me, I'd have been somewhat peeved. Or possibly just blurted the word "YES!" before he had a chance to say anything ;)

When Jim showed that ring and did the fake going down on one knee I told my girlfriend I am so glad you don't watch this show with me.

I might totally steal that some day.

The Office was much improved this week. It was great to move away from the darkness of the deposition episode and last week's dinner party.

Happy for Jim & Pam storyline...kinda like where it's heading, let's not drag it outttttt forever like some other shows. Looking forward to the return of Brothers & Sisters!!! :)

Love your columns!

One of my favorite quotes from last night's Office episode has to be: "I give her a 10 for looks, but a 3 for ability to describe herself."

Hate Brothers&Sisters. Sally Field and Calista Flockhart are overrated actors and the show is so gay.

I think I might like "My Name Is Earl" but I'm afraid to watch since I might be exposed to even a second of "30 Rock".

The Jim/Pam stuff was good, but they kinda seem too happy: usually this means they will soon be self-destructing. Also, my favorite part was Michael and Dwight singing. Andy and Kevin were great too, including Kevin's sad talking head: "It's just nice to win one."

I loved "The Office" this week. Yes, the Jim/Pam stuff is adorable. I hope they do get married and everything--but it would be nice if the planning was a lot shorter than Pam's last wedding.

Best line was when Andy was talking about why he got the parking spaces back: "...for the guy who has to worry about his kid's orphanage bills..." Haha, Andy is my new favorite.

"Son a married couple"

Kenneth on 30 Rock...

I smile every time I think of it. I am going to used it whenever I can!
