RSSWill they? Won't they? Do we even want them to?
TV romances are a funny thing.
Like real life, they either work or they don't. You can't force chemistry.
And often no amount of cajoling can convince a viewer that two characters belong together if we didn't want them together in the first place. Often it seems like show runners move characters around like romantic chess pieces until they hit upon something that works. And you can't blame them -- how will they know two characters will work together until they try it?
I've been getting quite a bit of feedback on the possibility of Maggie and Eli romance on Eli Stone. To use one of my all time favorite phrases, we are not picking up what the show is putting down. And it's not because I want Eli back with Taylor. I think the show has yet to find the perfect match from Eli.
What are other TV romances I haven't believed no matter how much the show tried to convince me otherwise.
Sam and Tony on ER: People, we just need to let this one go. Honestly Sam cannot date anyone else she works with. And Tony needs a romance time out don't you think?
Meredith and McDreamy on Grey's Anatomy: Blasphemous I know. But I'm kind of rooting for Nurse Rose. I think this will result in healthier romances for all. Not to mention better treament of patients since everyone will have access to the supply room.
Gabby and Carlos on Desperate Housewives: I think for their on again/off again romance to work, we had to believe this duo had an undeniable attraction to each other. All their renewed romance has done is made Gabby more annoying.
But I'm all for the following possibilities:
Andy and Angela on The Office: He had me with "Take a Chance on Me." Take a chance Angela. Take a chance!
Jerry and Katie on Boston Legal: British Blossom would be great for Jerry.
Graham and Sarah on Brothers & Sisters: Is there anyone Steven Weber hasn't had chemistry with?

Was Thursday night's episode of Lipstick Jungle the finale of the series? If so, it ended with a lot of questions unanswered. Do you know if the show will return? Arline
The episode was the final one of this first season (which was shorter than planned because of the writer's strike). NBC has not yet decided whether they will pick up the series for a second season.
When is the 2nd season of Damages airing. And PLEASE tell me that Journeyman has some, be it slight chance, of coming back. I mean, it was SOOO good! And it ended with Katie finally seeing him vanish! From everything I've been able to find, it hasn't been picked up, but it's not TECHNICALLY dead. Is that right? John
Well John you are right. Journeyman hasn't officially been cancelled but it is highly unlikely the show will return. Conventional wisdom really says the only reason NBC aired all the episodes it had was because of the writer's strike so at least we got to see all the episodes that had been filmed. As for Damages, the second season will most like begin late summer/early fall but FX hasn't set the date yet. But FX has picked up the show for two more seasons - that's 26 more episodes. Glenn Close (Patty), Rose Byrne (Ellen) and Tate Donovan (Tom) are signed on to be series regulars in season two.
Highlights of the Week Ahead

Greek returns to complete its first season Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC Family. And the show is in fine form. Cappie is full of quip one liners (he's definitely making the quotes of the week this week), Rusty is mending a broken heart, Casey is trying to convince everyone (especially herself) that she's completely over Evan, and Evan is trying to get Calvin back into the fraternity (but the fraternity is not so sure they want him back). This is a show that just works. There's plenty of humor but Greek knows when to quit playing around and is not afraid to take on serious topics. The performances are strong and so is the acting. But I think the show's real gift is that is remains completely relatable. Even for say a certain TV columnist who has been out of college for awhile. Do you think I could sneak into a Kappa Tau frat party?
You know TV production is moving quickly these days. Because we just heard about Britney Spears guest starring on How I Met Your Mother (Monday, CBS, 8:30 p.m.) and the episode is already here. Remember that tattoo Ted got at the beginning of the season (courtesy of Mandy Moore)? Well now he wants it removed. He'll visit a dermatologist (played by Sarah Chalke, Eliot on Scrubs) and Spears plays her receptionist. Let's hope this is the start of good things for Britney.
Chritine finds out that Barb and Matthew had a one night stand on The New Adventures of Old Christine (Monday, CBS, 8 p.m.). They'll pretend to be inseparable just to drive Christine batty and file under interesting: their one night stand might not be a one night stand after all.
CSI: Miami is back with new episodes Monday at 10 p.m. on CBS. When someone is murdered at a wedding, Horatio grimaces and talks in a low voice while the rest of the team investigates what might have happened.
But what you really should be watching is Sarah Drew, Hannah on Everwood, when she guest stars as Cynthia Keener's daughter in the first part of a two-part episode of Medium (Monday, NBC, 10 p.m.). The episodes are extraordinarily creepy (my guess is the show threw in Joe's goofy dreams to offset what was happening during the rest of the episode) and Drew is pretty fantastic. I also want to give special praise to Maria Lark who plays middle Dubois daughter Bridgette. I've always really enjoyed her but with these two episodes I'm convinced that she's one of the best child actors on prime time.
Well friends this is the end for Jericho (Tuesday, CBS, 10 p.m.). CBS announced last week that it wouldn't be picking up the show for a third season. That means Tuesday's episode will be the series finale. I know this is disappointing for so many of you who fought to get a second season of the show and while I wasn't a die hard fan of the show I definitely can relate to the disappointment when your favorite show gets cancelled. That being said I would love to know what you all thought of these seven episodes. Did they live up to your expectations? Talk about it below.
Okay so I totally think both Trace and Piers have someone trying to foil their plans on The Celebrity Apprentice (Thursday, NBC, 9 p.m.). Let's not forget that Stephen Baldwin was a contestant on Celebrity Mole and he didn't look too upset when he announced he had found no famous people to attend the event. I can't believe the Backstreet Boys would act like that if they know they are being filmed. Can you? But mostly I'm so highly annoyed that Carol Alt was robbed of her chance to be one of the final two. I'm so rooting for Trace.
George Michael guest stars as himself on Eli Stone (Thursday, ABC, 10 p.m.). Meanwhile, Eli considers surgery to remove his aneurysm. I'm really enjoying how Eli is questioning the show's premise and getting angry. This show gets better every week.
There are two Battlestar Galactica specials this week to get you ready for the fourth season (which premieres April 4). Battlestar Galactica: Revisited airs on the Sci Fi Channel Friday at 10 p.m. It's a recap show that will catch viewers up on the first three seasons. At 10:30 p.m., fans including Brad Paisley and Seth Green talk about their love for the show in Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon.

Jericho had every opportunity to shine, CBS promoed this show like no one's business. The viewers just weren't there. To augment a famous line, "It's show business, not show quality." If the money was there, it would have kept going. No one can blame CBS though.
I for one have loved this, albeit short, season of Jericho. It as well as Journeyman was one of the best written and acted shows on network tv this year. (so of course it was cancelled) What I am having problems with is how they think there can be a satisfing conclusion in the 1 hour that is left.
I agree with you Amy on the Eli Stone romance. Maggie is the obvious choice and therefore makes it not right. The conflict between Eli and Taylor is too good to ruin with them getting back together. I hope this intellegently written show does not fall to the wayside like the others.
I am so sick of reality and fluff shows on tv.
All the internet interaction tricks some naive viewers into thinking the show they love has more people who love it than it really does. Jericho started out all right, though its audience was older than advertisers really want. But the ratings have gone down ever since. The most recent episodes have gotten really bad ratings, and against very little competition. If I were CBS, I think I might have been a little meaner announcing the recancellation.
Meaner? Why be mean? The brought the show back for the fans and no other reason - if it did well, there was a chance but as a very loyal viewer of the show and as good as it was (and I guess if 30 is older-skewing...) I knew it was the end.
CBS cares about numbers, not as much about demographics. I think a very good arguement, especially these days, is the older-skewing crowd has a bit more desposable income than 18-34, 18-49 year olds.
Anyway, who cares about the business side of things. It was a good show and so long as the ending has resolution, I am fine.
Blasphemy!!! Angela and Dwight forever! Who else could stand those two, but each other?!?! But it would be entertaining to see how much Andy would be willing to take from Angela before the end.
But I am so with you regarding McDreamy and Meredith. I like Nurse Rose and it is nice to see Derek with someone who acts like an adult, not an angsty teenager. I don't believe these two have a star-crossed lovers thing going, it just isn't there. Plus it isn't cir***stances keeping them apart, it is Meredith's stupidity.
I think there is alot more to come on Eli Stone, but it is interesting to explore the Eli/Maggie relationship. I think he will realize that her feelings for him are admiration and respect and his for her are just because she is the only one who trusts and believes him unwaveringly. They don't have a romantic thing, but it is good to get that out of the way early and get on with her being more of the sidekick role.
While I am extremely disappointed that Jericho has been cancelled - again, I appreciate the fact that CBS brought it back for a second season. I thought that the show was as good, if not better than it was in the second season. My boyfriend is a new Jericho convert and his comments may be indicative of why this show lost viewers - Give us some answers already. I think that Jericho may have taken the cliffhanger thing too much to heart.
Bring on the Angie! I feel Dwight's pain, but the Andy-Angela pairing is so wrong it's right. The show should get some great mileage just watching Dwight squirm in silent agony whenever Angie engages in PDA at the office. Plus, Andy has been down for so long, the boy deserves a good time or two.
Ah, Jericho. I was thrilled when it came back but found myself become less engaged with each new episode.
Maybe it was because they had cut so much away. Maybe it was because we knew it was on extremely thin ice this season. Maybe it was because the writing and acting made me feel like they were desperately trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.
That said, much credit must be given to the fans who brought it back. I am just curious if the other networks will respond to future save-our-show campaigns or cite the utter failure of Jericho as an example of the fans' fickleness. It does not portend great things for Journeyman, Chronicle, Reaper, et al.
I loved Jericho and was very happy for a second season. I think they did a good job but the condensed 7 episode season forced them to keep the action and tension so high that there weren't any more of the lovely character moments I loved in season 1. Also, the story felt chopped because many of the cast was gone or only shown infrequently like Gail, Mary, Hawkin's children, and others like Emily were seriously underused. Still, I am glad to have had the second season and hats off the cast and crew - it was obviously a great effort and they really cared -note the crew blogs, the commentaries online, the many appearances by cast.
