Pucker Up . . . TV's Best Kisses
It's been awhile since I've done this column but the end of the writer’s strike has me totally feeling the love for all things TV. So in honor of Valentine’s Day, their kiss, their kiss is on my list.
Sometimes a television kiss is the butterflies-in-your-stomach, toes-curled, heart-go-pitter-patter kind of lip lock that is so real that we actually have to remind ourselves that we are watching entirely fictional characters.
Here are some of my all time favorite TV kisses (and if you’ve been reading my column for awhile, you’ve definitely seen some of these before).
1. Veronica and Logan on Veronica Mars in "M.A.D." Sigh. Jason Dohring is the only actor I’ve ever met and actually blushed while I was talking to him. I blame this sexy scene that found Logan and Veronica kissing in the Neptune High bathroom.
2. Jim and Pam on The Office in "Casino Night:" In a surprise move (we think he’s going to tell her about his new job), Jim confesses his love for Pam and kisses her. It was so painfully real, that our hearts broke right along with his.
3. Sydney and Vaughn on Alias in "Double Agent": After finally getting together in "Phase One," viewers are treated to this little seduction scene in Sydney’s kitchen.
4. Buffy and Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer in "Tabula Rasa": As the camera panned away from Michelle Branch singing the apropos "Goodbye to You," and snuck around the corner, viewers saw Spike and Buffy hungrily kissing. The lustful duo have had their share of fiery moments (and sweet ones like in "Once More With Feeling"), but this kiss demonstrated their mutual attraction at its most base level.
5. Kate and Sawyer on Lost in "Confidence Man:" Sure they only kissed because Sawyer said he wouldn’t give up his stolen goods unless he got to lock lips with Kate. But it was a sizzling screen moment.
6. Mulder and Scully in The X-Files in "Existence": We knew they had to be in love. We just knew it. When Mulder leaned down and kissed Scully over their love child, we finally had the proof we had been waiting for.
7. Pacey and Joey on Dawson’s Creek in "Stolen Kisses": In the best story line to ever come out of "The Creek" Pacey falls for his best friend’s girl. After telling our Pacey that he makes her feel alive, he announces that he’s going to start kissing her in ten seconds and begins counting . . .
8. Kevin and Scotty on Brothers & Sisters in "Date Night:" Their relationship is groundbreaking in its utter normalcy. Who couldn’t relate when Scotty said, "I love this part when you look at someone and they don't look away." Scotty, I love it too.
9. Ross and Rachel on Friends in "The One Where Ross Finds Out": Sure, by the time the series ended we were so over this couple we needed a new word for over. But on November 9, 1995, Ross and Rachel were television’s It Couple. After a drunken Rachel leaves a message on Ross’s machine that she’s over him, Ross utters the classic line "You’re over me? When we’re you under me?" Then he goes to the Central Perk and looks longingly at her through the window, Rachel wrestles with the locks, before flinging open the doors. The two kiss in the pouring rain. Years later, that moment is still perfect.
10. Doug and Carol on ER in "Such Sweet Sorrow": Standing out on the dock, Doug kissed the woman he had redeemed himself for and asked the simple question, "Where are the girls?" George Clooney’s surprise appearance remains one of television’s best kept secrets. It was such a great moment that I completely forgave Doug for never coming back for the birth of the twins.
11. David and Maddie on Moonlighting in "I am curious . . . Maddie": Known as the "Big Bang" episode among fans, David and Maddie finally sleep together in a scene that literally takes down the house. The show went downhill after this, but we at least got to see the pair happy for a night.
Those are some of my favorite TV kisses. What are yours? Talk about your favorite TV kisses below and have a very Happy Valentine’s Day.
Where Have I Seen Them Before?
DJ recognized Laura Silverman as the orthodox Jewish woman on House. She’s Sarah Silverman’s real life sister and she plays her on TV in The Sarah Silverman Program.
Kathie recognized a slew of familiar faces on Psych. Amanda Detmer, Deena on What About Brian, was the woman who killed her husband. Melanie Lynskey, Rose on Two and a Half Men and Wendy on Drive, was the assistant. And Amanda Pays, Corbin Bernsen’s real life wife, was the blind date.
David recognized Maggie Siff as burn victim Rachel Ben Natan on nip/tuck. She’s Rachel Menken on Mad Men and we saw her as the runner who was starving herself to gain her fiance’s approval earlier this season on Grey’s Anatomy.
Michelle was all over the return of the primetime soap vixens on nip/tuck. Donna Mills (Abby on Knots Landing) was the wealthy socialite who wanted a feline face. Joan Van Ark (Val on Knots Landing), Shari Belafonte (Julie on Hotel) and Deborah Shelton (Mandy on Dallas) played her friends. I have to say I’ve officially broken up with nip/tuck and a story line about a woman wanting a cat face isn’t exactly enticing me to tune back in.
Michael Weston is Hope’s brother on Welcome to the Captain. We saw him last season as Private Brian Dancer on Scrubs and he was Jake, the guy who terrorized David, on Six Feet Under.
Ask TV Gal
I noticed that the set for WPK Law Firm in Eli Stone looks a lot the set used for Wolfram and Hart on Angel. Are they the same? Greg
I actually had quite a few people asking me this question so I looked into it and found out that the set on Eli Stone was built for the show. So, although they look similar, they are officially not the same set.
That’s all for today. I’ll be back on Friday with quotes of the week and to talk about Hollywood Week on American Idol (I miss the group performances too!). Have a question? Seen a familiar face? Want to nominate a quote of the week? Have a topic you want to see the group discus? Write me at amytvgal@zap2it.com. Talk to you on Friday.

Casey and Dana on Sports Night
OMG! Only to be ruined by Dana's dating plan
Hall of Fame
Sam and Diane, Cheers
Yeah, I know I am getting old. Loved Logan and Veronica, too.
That "forced" kiss of Seely and Temperance on Bones was PRETTY damn hot, and the setup was hilarious...
Malik | Feb 13, 2008 12:17:44 PM | #Number 1 on my list is also a Veronica and Logan kiss, but it's their first one, the one outside of the motel room after Logan shows up to deck the undercover agent that kidnapped Veronica in "Weapons of Class Destruction."
I also liked the Bones kiss! But I can't wait to see it happen "for real."
Andrea C | Feb 13, 2008 12:25:59 PM | #For those looking for info on what their favorite shows will be doing now that the strike's over, I found the following web page with lots of info on it:
http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Wga-Strike-Favorite/800032698
And just so I'm not totally off topic, while it's not a "romantic moment" type of kiss, the forced kiss between Captain Kirk and Uhura in the original Star Trek was certainly a noteworthy moment in TV history.
David B. Mears | Feb 13, 2008 12:28:31 PM | #Oh man I have to say Booth and Brennan on Bones!! That was incredible, and now just think about how this could affect them when the show returns...
Amen on 1-3!! The chemistry between those pairs was amazing! I also definitely agree on 4,5,and 8, but the rest were all a little before my time (though I have seen a couple of them).
Sarah | Feb 13, 2008 12:28:39 PM | #Thanks for letting us know that was Amanda Pays, Corbin Bernsen’s wife, as the blind date on Psych. I hadn't realized that.
Loretta | Feb 13, 2008 12:31:42 PM | #Actually, I agree with Andrea - I probably enjoyed Veronica and Logan's first kiss outside the hotel room the most too. I first watched it on DVD, and I had to pause and rewind and watch it again to convince myself it wasn't my imagination! It was just so automatic that I was shocked and thrilled at the same time!
Sarah | Feb 13, 2008 12:34:46 PM | #Just a comment on #10, the episode where "George Clooney makes a surprise return appearance" on ER - how was this a surprise to anyone? They announced in Jan of that year that he would be appearing in Carol's (Juliana Marguiles') final episode? Juliana made mention of it in numerous appearances on shows like ET and late night talk shows. I'm still confused as to how anyone was ever 'surprised' by that cameo. Maybe they tried to deny it later to make it a surprise, but I never believe denials until they are proven to be true.
Rishi | Feb 13, 2008 12:38:30 PM | #Re: The Friends kiss - I always liked that one best also, but I think more people favour the "Prom Video" episode kiss more. Prom Video kiss happened after the one in TV Gal's column.
R | Feb 13, 2008 12:41:07 PM | #Re: The Friends kiss - I always liked that one best also, but I think more people favour the "Prom Video" episode kiss more. Prom Video kiss happened after the one in TV Gal's column.
Rishi | Feb 13, 2008 12:41:16 PM | #What about Luke and Lorelai's kiss on the series finale of "Gilmore Girls" as one of the greatest kisses ever?!?!?
guilty pleasure | Feb 13, 2008 1:06:58 PM | #I have to agree with Andrea C on the Veronica and Logan kiss. When he whips her around and kisses her, it's got to be one of the most spine tingeling kisses ever (all though the vast majority of their kisses were pretty darn hot).
I also really loved Dan and Serena's first kiss on Gossip Girl. It was adorable and the setting was absolutely beautiful.
Lisa P. | Feb 13, 2008 1:10:09 PM | #While I would agree that the Logan and Veronica Kiss was great and the Brennan and Booth kiss was totally hot this first kiss between Buffy and Angel always make me melt.
Now that the strike is over I am most curious to find out which shows are going to make it back for the fall season. I am nervous that some of the new shows that I was just beginning to get into will not get a second season.
Hettie | Feb 13, 2008 1:12:36 PM | #I also want to put my vote in for Dana and Casey in "Special Powers" on Sports Night. "You do not mess with the statute of limitations!"
Kathleen | Feb 13, 2008 1:18:49 PM | #How about Luke and Lorelai's first kiss outside of the Inn.
With regards to Rachel & Ross's kisses - I think the one of the prom video was not the episode after the one mentioned in the column but two episodes afer the one with the List....
And how about Monica and Chandler's kiss when he admits to everyone he loves her.
Ooo. I second the first Buffy/Angel kiss. Actually, I think it was their second kiss. I believe they first kissed in Buffy's bedroom right before Buffy found out Angel was a vampire. The one I'm thinking of was at the end of the episode at the Bronze. The song playing in the background was perfect and the kiss was so sweet and full of what they know could never be. Then, when they pull away and see the burn mark of Buffy's cross. Squee! I've got to watch that episode tonight.
Julie | Feb 13, 2008 1:44:37 PM | #Amy, I can't believe you didn't mention Josh And Donna's FINALLY kiss on The West Wing. You loved it when it happened. :-)
Jan | Feb 13, 2008 1:47:20 PM | #I love Logan and Veronica, but I think the kiss in Weapons of Mass Destruction is far hotter than the bathroom kisses.
I would also nominate the skipping-geometry-review-basement-kisses of Jordan and Angela.
Andrea | Feb 13, 2008 1:56:41 PM | #I have to agree with the Logan and Veronica kiss outside the motel. Whenever, best kiss is mentioned I think of that one. It was surprising, sweet, hot everything rolled into one. But like said previously, all their kisses were amazing.
Sarah | Feb 13, 2008 2:07:09 PM | #Screw romance! Let's go with the kiss on "The O.C." that screamed "BUSTED:"
Julie Cooper (Melinda Clark) kissing jail-bait, boy toy Luke (Chris Carmack) in the doorway of the cheap motel Both were unaware that Seth and Ryan (Julie's daughter's boyfriend) were looking on in stunned horror.
I dedicate that memory to TV Gal.
Dex | Feb 13, 2008 2:11:24 PM | #I would definitely have to agree with the Pacey/Joey "10" kiss from "Stolen Kisses". Even though that episode aired many years ago, I still watch it today with the same enjoyment I had back in 2000. What a great beginning to the BEST storyline in that entire show. That kiss alone showed without a doubt that those two should and would end the series together. I also have to agree with the poster that mentioned the "Raincoats & Recipes" Luke/Lorelai kisses. We fans waited so long for that moment. It's a pity we were robbed of their "middle".
modo | Feb 13, 2008 2:14:32 PM | #I still think my favorite kiss on TV was when Tony and Michelle finally got together in season 2. They were in that dark hallway and Michelle was telling Tony how bad her day was (because, duh--all days are bad on "24"). Her brother had just tried to kill someone, the whole place was a wreck, she was "so tired" and all of a sudden he hugged her and then she kissed him...I don't even remember everything, but I was just like, "AAAAAH!" even though it was like in the middle of season 5 when I first watched it and Michelle was already dead and gone.
I also love when they get together at the end of season 4--that one made me cry I think becaus she thought he was dead for awhile and then--ahh, I just love it so much.
Lauren B | Feb 13, 2008 3:14:58 PM | #Definitely agree that the Logan/Veronica kiss outside the motel was amazing!
Also want to throw my support to the P/J kiss in Stolen Kisses.
These two episodes are my favorite, and get re-watched on DVD every once in a while.
Thanks for this column--Amy, it reminds me what good tv used to be!
angela | Feb 13, 2008 3:21:42 PM | #Any love for Torchwood here? Jack Harkness has had several amazing kisses . . .
1) with the soldier he took his name from.
2) with James Marsters on the Season 2 premiere.
3) the most recent episode with Yanto.
I love that no matter how small the moment everytime Jack kisses someone it's incredible passionate.
Amy | Feb 13, 2008 3:24:00 PM | #My vote is for the second Ross-Rachel kiss from the prom video episode. Much better kiss from an amazingly good episode.
I wasn't a fan of the Luke-Lorelai kiss in the finale of "Gilmore Girls." I loved that they finally got together, but I thought the kiss itself was a little awkward.
Derek | Feb 13, 2008 3:35:40 PM | #i always preferred the first time sydney and vaughn kissed on alias, right after they infiltrated sd6.
megan | Feb 13, 2008 3:43:23 PM | #oh Amy! you forgot one of the best kisses of all! Sam and Diane's first kiss!
"are you as turned on as I am?"
"more!"
one of the best ever!
ken | Feb 13, 2008 4:26:33 PM | #Oh I whole-heartedly agree with ALL the Logan/Veronica kisses! And Booth and Brennan. But the kiss that I wish I hadn't missed....Josh and Donna!
Clara | Feb 13, 2008 5:16:48 PM | #Most memorable kiss is from Friends, when Chandler proposes to Monica and they're on their knees kissing. I still get goose bumps from that one.
Sarah | Feb 13, 2008 6:00:18 PM | #Wow. I loved the one between Pam and Jim. I always knew they would get together. And I think Booth and Brennan should be on that list. That was an awesome kiss. Of course, Spike and Buffy is one of the best kisses as well.
Rachel | Feb 13, 2008 6:17:22 PM | #last epi of everwood between amy and ephram
aj | Feb 13, 2008 6:24:27 PM | #I was never a fan of the Logan/Veronica relationship except when they were fighting but I did love when Piz finally took matters into his own hands and surprise kissed Veronica - the look on both their faces was worth the price of admission alone.
All of Buffy and Angels kisses but especially during Angel's first season when he turned human for a time and they went at it in the kitchen, in the fridge and everywhere and when Angel turned up in the final season of Buffy to give her an amulet and she kissed him proving she still had feelings for him despite everything and poor Spike witnessing it in the background.
Mulder and Scully kissing for a good five mins in front of their boss in the season finale and the Y2K kiss was sweet too.
Ross and Rachel when Rachel finds out about him remembering she liked a cameo she mentioned years before and she walks to the door and kisses him and Phoebe says "there you are - he's her lobster!" and Chandler pats her on the arm so happily
Kevin and Jason in the Walker's pantry during the engagement party and Kevin telling Kitty about it afterwards - so hot and hilarious
Thanks for this Ames - I usually hate Valentines Day but this has really cheered me up!!
Well first off I have to say you got several right. Sydney and Vaughn, Buffy and Spike, and Mulder and Scully. Let's say those are three of the best couples of all time. Buffy never belonged with Angel, she belonged with Spike and their passion is right to have made it to this list. *smiles*
But...I was deeply touched by Dawson and Joey's kiss in Swan Song when Joey runs all through the airport to admit her true love for Dawson as he flies off to California to pursue his dream, but he can't leave without knowing that his love, his soulmate...Joey, loves him back. And the KISS! WOW! The moment was perfect.
And what about Luke and Laura? Hello? Daytimes greatest? Their best kiss to me was in 1983 when she came back from the dead and he ran across the lawn to throw her up in his arms just kiss her. It was perfect.
Paradise | Feb 13, 2008 7:25:46 PM | #josh and donna! it wasn't the most romantic thing in the world, but it was so satisfying after seven seasons.....
maria | Feb 13, 2008 7:49:17 PM | #C'mon people. For the most marvelous and tragic kiss of all time, the moment in Buffy Season 2, Becoming Part 2, when Angelus is changed back to Angel at the end of the world (almost).
If you haven't seen it, do the whole second season to really 'get it'. And I dare you after that to try to NOT get the whole rest of the show.
Doctor | Feb 13, 2008 8:00:07 PM | #I'm actually surprised a Buffy/Spike kiss is listed rather than a Buffy/Angel one.
Usually on such lists, Buffy/Spike doesn't get any love.
I always thought many to most of the Buffy/Angel kisses were "forced passion" while the Buffy/Spike ones seemed "natural".
And that Booth/Bones kiss was so bland bland bland. That was NOT hot.
I agree that Luke and Lorelai's first kiss on the porch of the Dragonfly was the best. I read somewhere that the actors nailed it in the first take! Good chemistry.
apple705 | Feb 13, 2008 8:33:42 PM | #The Buffy/Spike kiss you listed is my favorite one. It was really unexpected and it was their first kiss that didn't involve any type of spell. It was so natural.
Jess | Feb 13, 2008 8:38:43 PM | #THE LoVe kiss in MAD so surprising! yet it makes sence since they had been getting closer with Veroncia helping out with her case. I enjoyed the list very much.
TYson | Feb 13, 2008 9:29:15 PM | #What about Luke & Lorelai? He built her an ice rink on her front yard to get Lorelai back into loving winter. Not to mention he always treated Rory like a daughter. The series finale left us hoping that if there's a movie, those two will finally get married.
Then there's Eric and Annie on 7th Heaven and Cliff and Clair on The Cosby Show. Tons of kids, neighbours, family and friends with problems and yet their marriages stood the test of time.
Robin | Feb 13, 2008 10:42:15 PM | #To me first kisses are always the best. My list:
In no particular order:
1. Lois Lane/Clark Kent- "Hydro"
2. Piper Halliwell/Leo Wyatt- "The Truth is Out There and it Hurts"
3. Kelly Kapowski/Zack Morris- "The Prom"
I can't think of any more, but I may add others when they come to me.
Torchwood---
Lots of "snooging" going on there. I love that show.
I have to wholeheartedly agree on "nip/tuck." Actually, I gave up on it last year when it just went too far over the top. I decided to give it another chance this year with its move to Hollywood, but just can't take its narcissistic ways any longer.
John in Sac | Feb 13, 2008 11:43:32 PM | #Finally, Buffy and Spike gets some recognition. It's always Buffy and Angel a much lesser couple in my eyes. Yawn. Love/Hate relationships like Buffy and Spike's are way more fun to watch. Not to mention the sex is steamier and hotter. ;)
And actually their first kiss that didn't involve a spell was at the end of Intervention when Buffy posed as the Buffybot and kissed him in gratitude for not telling Glory that Dawn was The Key. "What you did for me and Dawn. That was real." Aww for all the hype they get for being hot together (rightly so), I agree they had their sweet moments too.
Ari | Feb 13, 2008 11:57:42 PM | #Oh def Syd/Vaughn!
But The Bones/Booth kiss was pretty hot with it being forced. Though, the cut extended clip was BEYOND HOT. Now that kiss would have killed us with its passion!
Robyn | Feb 14, 2008 3:32:50 AM | #I, too, liked Vaughn and Syd's first kiss, right after taking down SD-6 the best on that show. Also, the Veronica/Logan motel kiss was the best one because so shocking (loved it!). I loved Jim and Pam's first kiss too, but their British counterparts Tim and Dawn was equally as awesome. Last, but not least, Max and Liz's first kiss on Roswell is still one of my favorites.
Kath | Feb 14, 2008 5:49:32 AM | #Bette and Tina in the pilot to The L Word.
Xena and Gabrielle in A Friend in Need (part 2)
Calista Flockhart and Lucy Liu in Ally McBeal
Willow / Kennedy in Buffy
(ewwww Spike and Buffy - terrible pairing!)
Hannah and Bright on Everwood. A local cable channel is re airing the episodes and I tape that one everytime and almost burn a hole in the film watching that scene over and over. Forget the useless teen comedies, that scene was a dream come true for so many girls. Hannah got the guy of her dreams not by doing a make over or changing her personality, but by just being herself. I misse the show and all it's wonderful characters, but I especially miss finding out what became of this couple.
lee-ann | Feb 14, 2008 6:11:43 AM | #Yes to just about every Veronica/Logan kiss, but their first outside the motel made me triple take... loved it.
As for Buffy, come on. Even Whedon has said she never loved Spike and the fact the she had to be so completely depressed and alone before she turned to him is a perfect sign of that (not that they didn't have heat, they had that in spades, but it was never love on her part). Anyone saying she and Angel didn't have passion wasn't watching the show. I wholeheartedly agree that the kiss at the end of season 2 was the single most heartbreaking kiss ever. That or when Angel turned human... so hot and sweet at the same time.
K | Feb 14, 2008 6:30:09 AM | #If you want to talk literal "bringing down the house" hotness, you have to talk Spike and Buffy in season 6, "Smashed." But my favorite Spuffy kiss is the closing of "Once More With Feeling" two eps earlier. Now that's a kiss that never gets old!
spuffy | Feb 14, 2008 7:32:04 AM | #The George Clooney - Juliana Margulies kiss that I love more than the one you mentioned was in the episode when he was on the road trip with Anthony Edwards to scatter his father's ashes; the look on his face when he saw her at the end of the walkway and realized it was really her was almost better than the kiss itself, which seemed to take an hour - perfect.
Donna | Feb 14, 2008 7:32:44 AM | #Angel and Cordelia's final kiss in 'You're Welcome' did it for me.
tojoson | Feb 14, 2008 7:36:59 AM | #I love Bright and hannah's kiss on Everwood. When she says "I'm all sweaty." it was so sweet and real. They were such a wonderful couple. who would have thought that the girl that won good looking dumb jock Bright's heart would be plain jane book smart hannah. and like Lee-ann stated, she did it by just being herself.
I'm also a Friends fan who like the Ross and Rachel "prom kiss" the best. I think because it was more unexcepted and not because when it happen you knew they were really going to be together.
SG | Feb 14, 2008 8:09:33 AM | #I wish this thing let you edit your posts. I meant to say, I like Ross and Rachel's kiss because you knew they were going to be a real couple after the "prom Kiss"
SG | Feb 14, 2008 8:12:23 AM | #My favorite kiss would have to be Ryan and Marissa on the Farris Wheel. Man, I miss the OC....
M | Feb 14, 2008 8:13:06 AM | #Amy, you have already compiled a great list of memorable kisses, especially #5 Sawyer/Kate and #7 Pacey/Joey. I agree with some previous mentions of BBC's Torchwood: the kiss between Jack/Ianto and the one between Torchwood's Jack/real Jack Harkness were both amazing! I also loved the Bright/Hannah kiss from Everwood, as mentioned by lee-ann.
since I have just watched the second season premiere, I remember one from Jericho. I really enjoyed the kiss that Heather gave to Jake in episode 7. Heather has just fixed an old truck so that Jake can drive to another town to look for medicine for his father. She tells him that the truck can't go very fast, she kisses him, then tells him to be careful on the road. It was so sweet to see her concerned and worried that Jake might not come back. I think Heather/Jake have tons more chemistry than Emily/Jake (boring!).
Paige | Feb 14, 2008 8:20:19 AM | #What about when Ed and Carol Vessey finally kissed!
Beej | Feb 14, 2008 9:24:47 AM | #I've got to say the kiss between Alicia and Caitlin in episode 3 of Cashmere Mafia was smoking HOT (and I'm straight!)
Nikki | Feb 14, 2008 9:33:45 AM | #Chuck and Sarah when they thought the bomb was going to explode. Sizzling hot!
Nikki | Feb 14, 2008 9:39:28 AM | #people, people, please. the best luke & lorelai kiss has to be when the dragonfly inn opened - they were at the front door, they both caught each other off guard then kirk came screening naked thought - priceless !
Laura | Feb 14, 2008 10:26:06 AM | #I love the SSS Doug/Carol kiss, but my favorite may always be the one on Carol's porch at the end of the S3 finale. So hot.
Another great, sad, but great ER kiss has to be the Mark/Susan kiss before she boards the train.
The Andy/Nina kisses will always be favorites of mine as well. And then the Matt/Harriet(S60) kiss at the end of The Christmas Show was awesome.
ave | Feb 14, 2008 10:58:37 AM | #The OC: Any kiss between Ryan Atwood and Hailey or Lindsey just made (makes - reruns!) my pulse race!
Still love Friends' Ross & Rachel kiss in the rain
When Samantha kissed Smith in the Sex and the City finale when he comes back to say he loves her....
Mad About You - Paul and Jaime always seemed to have sincere kisses
Best TV kisses:
1. Willow and Tara (BtVS) at the end of 'Entropy' - even more powerful seeing as Tara only had 1 more episode to live
2. Hawkeye and Margaret (M*A*S*H) in 'Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen' - I always like to think they got together after the war
3. Xander and Anya (BtVS) at the end of 'Into the Woods' - I never really liked them as a couple but this was a really romantic scene
One of the most memorable "kiss" episodes of a show is one where the kiss never actually happened during the episode.
It was, I beleive, the first episode of Scrubs which partly revolved around J.D. trying to kiss Elliot within 24 hours of meeting her because if he didn't it would mean that she would view him as a friend.
All thru the episode they had a clock showing the countdown of the time he had left ending with J.D, running through the halls dodging people, trying to find her while Erasure's, "A Little Respect" is playing. He sees her, runs up to her and says, "Kiss Me". She hesitates because she's feeling down and needs a friend to talk to. He relents and listens to her pour out her feelings, the clock goes off and his last word as the screen goes blank - "Damn".
sac | Feb 14, 2008 1:26:04 PM | #Luke and Lorelei's first kiss. First kiss. It was as perfect a moment of television EVER. The last kiss meh.
Francesca | Feb 14, 2008 1:45:55 PM | #So I commented yesterday about my favorite kiss, but I just had to come back and say how much I enjoy seeing a Logan and Veronica pic again. While it makes me miss these two even more - it's still good to see!
Lisa P. | Feb 14, 2008 2:04:37 PM | #Out of that list I loved Ross & Rachel the most. :)¨
Although that Buffy & Spike kiss was pretty hot, IMHO they were never as hot as Buffy & Angel's making out sessions a few years earlier. ;)
Otherwise I think that JR & Sue Ellen on "Dallas" had some pretty hot kissing scenes over the years... :)
I'm surprised that they are no longer on tv guide's voting lists for favorite couples and such as they still have quite a following...Anyone who's visited the official Dallas board knows that! ;)
Stop making up lies K just to prop Buffy and Angel. Joss never said Buffy didn't love Spike. Yes he did. In fact many of the writers did. And I have the quotes prove to it, but for now I won't post them unless anyone wants to read them.
Ari | Feb 14, 2008 3:04:38 PM | #Tony and Michellekiss in season 2 of 24 is my favourite, it´s so hot.....i also like it Sydney and Vaugh and Pacey & Joey, Booth and Brennan and Adisson & ALex (Gréy´s Anatomy)....and i can not understand why nobody mentioned: Angela & Hodgins´s first kiss (from Bones) , Danny & Lindsay kiss in season 3 of CSI NY, the "Spidey" kiss of The O.C and the first (and last kiss) of Grissom and Sara in CSI LV
IratxeEowyn | Feb 14, 2008 3:09:26 PM | #Thanks for the great memories Amy! You made some solid picks, but I can't believe you left out these classic couples who had such great chemistry: Luke and Lorelai, Ed and Carol, Lois and Clark, (Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher), Harm and Mac on Jag, Syd and Owen from Providence... I could go on and on. I guess there were just too many to make your list, but I was surprised to see these particular ones left off.
Doris | Feb 14, 2008 3:11:32 PM | #How about when Blair and Chuck on Gossip Girl finally kiss in the limo? Really, it was more than a kiss, but it was a good start.....
typeogirl | Feb 14, 2008 3:12:36 PM | #I liked the top 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 kiss. But I didn't like the Buffy/Spike kiss, I find it a bit depressing and disgusting for some reason. I thought the show became a sell-out after that. I also remember reading somewhere that both actors didn't like their characters being together.
Rechelle | Feb 14, 2008 3:27:12 PM | #This is of course a kiss before sex -- which I know doesn't count the same.. but in a gross/sad/car-wreck/can't look away way I have to vote for yes another JR/SUE ELLEN kiss-- after her fling with Mr. Blue Lagoon JR looks at her before she kisses him and they have a romp and he said " If it helps, you can think of him."
And people say Dallas Wasn't the modern Shakespeare. ( When it was good! :) )
Best kiss in my opinion was the Clark and Lana kiss in Red! Their chemistry was off the hook and super hot!!
Rechelle, what you're thinking of was the actors not liking the Spike-rape turn of events. Neither one of them thought that would ever happen in a million years. I've read that they both bought the Spike/Buffy love thing.
Andrea | Feb 14, 2008 4:45:15 PM | #Amy,
I am so glad you listed Dave and Maddie's kiss in "I Am Curious . . . Maddie" No couple in television history had as much chemistry. Moonlighting was such a fantastic, fun show! I also agree with the previous posters about Hannah and Bright. They are one of my favorite couples and that was a truly touching kiss. I miss Everwood more than any other WB show.
Andrea,
It's not just the rape, it also include the balcony scene and all season 6, Miss Gellar said that she felt "degraded as an actress". There were rumours that James Marsters wanted to quit because of the Spike/Buffy scenes.
Since many have already given love to Buffy/Angel (I personally think their kiss at the end of 'Surprise' was amazingly hot and romantic) I have to give some love to Starbuck and Apollo from Battlestar Galactica. C'mon now!
All their kisses were unbelievably sexy, but the one from 'Unfinished Business', when Kara smiles as though she's had an epiphany...gorgeous.
Jo | Feb 14, 2008 9:43:14 PM | #The end of the series finale of Friends where Ross and Rachel kissed, and provided the greatest ending to a show I have loathed for so long! I was so excited I could breathe after waiting 10 years. It finally meant it was over! Thank you for saying goodbye.
Shaun | Feb 15, 2008 1:11:03 AM | #Jim and Pam for sure! Also, Sydney and Vaughn, Tony and Michelle, Michael and Sara, Booth and Brennan!!
| Feb 15, 2008 5:00:06 AM | #I love those spinny kisses in "Veronica's office" too, Amy. And I also blushed when I met Jason because of them. I also quivered a little when he put his arm around me. Embarrassing, but memorable ;)
I love every Pacey/Joey kiss, including the one you mentioned, but for me the spinny kisses in "The Longest Day" are even better. Like the V/L kiss is MAD, they are comfortable with each other at this point and really hot.
I also agree that the normalcy of the Kevin/Scotty relationship is so refreshing. This week, the way Kevin stared at him in the car, I really believed he wanted to skip work and do him right there. And then they shared another hot and adorable kiss.
If I owned ER on DVD I would spend the morning watching Doug and Carol scenes. I loved that couple so much.
What about Ryan Atwood and Taylor Townsend? I always thought they had great chemistry.
Spadada | Feb 15, 2008 9:45:12 AM | #definitely josh and donna on west wing but also...
TED and ROBIN on the season 1 finale of HIMYM. I had a huge dopey grin on my face for awhile after that episode...
JC | Feb 15, 2008 1:43:10 PM | #Beth and Mick on Moonlight.
JS | Feb 15, 2008 2:13:17 PM | #You rank a gay kiss between two dudes ahead of Ross and Rachel? Really? Insanity reigns...
Kendra | Feb 16, 2008 1:39:40 AM | #YAY! Logan & Veronica! I totally agree that that¨s the best kiss ever
loganlove | Feb 16, 2008 6:16:22 AM | #Totally agree with Syd and Vaughn - the best TV couple ever - and with Carol and Doug on ER and Mulder and Scully. Great list.
Janet | Feb 16, 2008 3:07:53 PM | #OOH, I also love Smallville's Lois and Clark. Their kiss in Hydro was incredible, as was the PHONEBOOTH kiss in Crimson, oh my goodness. So Tom and Erica deserve recognition for their incredible chemistry. Let's get some more Clois please, we've waited long enough.
And thank goodness we got some Spike/Buffy on this list!
Paradise | Feb 17, 2008 5:33:18 PM | #You nailed it with Kevin & Scotty. They are adorable.
Bones - Angela & Hodgins on the swing
Luke & Lorelei in front of the Dragonfly
Lorraine | Feb 18, 2008 7:14:07 AM | #I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the kiss between Dr. House & Dr. Cameron on House last season. Good one, but I'd rather see a House/Cuddy kiss.
Jeanne | Feb 18, 2008 10:21:34 AM | #To Ari... wow, that's a ballsy claim to call me a liar. Yes, I would LOVE for you to provide proof that Whedon himself (as I said Whedon and not other writers or actors... after all it was his vision) said Buffy loved Spike. Apart from the fact that even Spike knew Buffy was lying when she said it (she sure didn't correct him), I distinctly remember Whedon saying at a conference that while there was no doubt Buffy cared for Spike, she never loved him. I also remember the outrage of the Buffy/Spike fans. If you can provide the proof that I'm wrong, I was gladly concede. But I'm pretty sure your wrong here.
K | Feb 18, 2008 11:05:22 AM | #WILL gladly concede... stupid inability to correct
K | Feb 18, 2008 11:06:46 AM | #Okay, aging myself here, but I remember swooning when Dylan and Kelly first kissed on 90210.
ali | Feb 18, 2008 11:10:48 AM | #Torchwood all the way - more Jack and Ianto smoochies please.
Karen | Feb 19, 2008 7:47:20 AM | #I posted last week to throw out Booth and Brennan and their forced kiss, but I forgot to mention my great love for Sydney and Vaughn too! Also, I have to agree with the support for Luke/Lorelei in front of the Dragonfly and Jim and Pam's big kiss.
I also want to second a couple that were mentioned on here that I also love: Angel and Cordelia in "You're Welcome" - I watch that scene over and over again; it's just so incredible! Also, a couple people mentioned Bones' Angela and Hodgins on the swings, and I completely agree. That was so sweet and so perfect!
Sarah | Feb 20, 2008 12:30:34 PM | #No question about it:
Sydney & Vaughn and Veronica & Logan.
Others:
-"24": Jack Bauer & Audrey Raines.
-"Will and Grace": When Grace & Leo kiss in the rain at the pumpkin market.
jim and pam
hannah and bright
josh and donna
mal and inara-she thinks he's dead then realizes after she kisses him that he has poisoned lipstick on his lips that makes her pass out too.
On Buffy being in love with Spike - I'm with K on this one. I wasn't at the conference but I did read an interview that SMG gave saying she was really disappointed that they even contemplated a Buffy and Spike relationship and Buffy told Spike several times that she wasn't in love with him - he knew that that's one of the reasons he shagged Anya, he was trying to get Buffy jealous and she was more annoyed that he told everyone that they were boning. Although she came to rely on him, Buffy was never in love with Spike not like she was with Angel.
SEU | Feb 20, 2008 11:58:50 PM | #Can we NOT do the Spuffy/Bangel shipper fight on here. You are right to believe in what you want, that's what Joss said. He prefers his fans to think and feel however they want the story to be. I personally think Buffy loved both Vampires in different ways and I'm content and secure in my theory.
I love your list Amy but I would have to change the Veronica/Logan kiss to the first on the Balcony and the Vaughn/Syd kiss to the first one after they took down SD-6. The Spike/Buffy kiss at the end of Tabula Rasa is my favorite kiss of all time, It was such a shock to the fans since we thought he left The Bronze and it made me love them even more. I've had a beautiful wallpaper on my computer since that episode was aired and I've never taken it off. That breath they took in between that hungary kiss is so hot.
Buffybot | Feb 21, 2008 9:54:09 AM | #i sooooo agree with Modo and Ari on Tony and Michelle!!! their first kiss in season 2 is just amazing and its the only kiss that still makes me go crazy
and Shaun happened to list ALL my favorites...
i also liked Jess and rory
i like the Logan and Veronica relationship but their kisses werent that hot for me...
spUFFY!
