Edie Britt from 'Desperate Housewives'

Tvfashwn09If we've said it once we've said it a thousand times: The cast of Desperate Housewives, which airs Sundays on ABC, is the most perfectly dressed cast on television. And not because they're all in Prada or the latest fashion but because what they wear is believable to each character and gently pushes the edge stylistically.

And while we've discussed most of the gals from Wisteria Lane, we've been hesitant to bring up Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan) for fear we'd not be able to get past the "ho factor." And while it's still difficult, Edie has a look that translates perfectly to women who are still mingling in that gray area between wanting to still be considered young while facing the real possibility of turning gray.

Several of her clothing options this season have been the perfect transition pieces for women who want to appear polished -- but also still want to be wanted. And that's definitely Edie.

Our favorite is a Summer Martinez halter dress in limoncello from French Connection available at Bloomingdale's and Zappos. It's an A-line dress that features a ruched corset top and a racer-style crisscrossed back with wideish shoulder straps that give the neck a squareish appearance. Though the dress comes in several colors -- black and green among them -- the limoncello seems to work best if only for the fact that its brightness hides the exposed zipper in the back. It's retro and fresh at the same time and is perfect for any woman from 25 to 45.

Another perfect transitional piece in Edie's closet is Zac Posen's iconic tiered hem dress in poppy red. True, this elasticized knit tank dress is from Posen's spring line (and in case you've forgotten, it's fall), but it's still available at Net-A-Porter.com and, just as it works perfectly for a variety of ages, it works well in a variety of seasons, depending on your climate. With bustier panel detailing and a spectacular tiered ruffle hemline, this can be considered a must-have for aspiring Edies. Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for in this case.

And while Edie has become iconic for her lingerie and leopard-print espadrilles, it's her quiet -- OK, not exactly quiet -- sophistication that oozes out on occasion and makes us appreciate her all the more. A perfect example of that comes in the form of Dolce & Gabbana's seamed satin dress in fuchsia and available at eLuxury.com. The sleeveless dress features a scooped neck, exposed seams with Merrow pearl stitching over the bodice and skirt, slanted side pockets, and a banded belt with snap closures in the back. Its straight silhouette is the rarest of combinations -- calm and flirty.

Which is exactly what we hope for from Edie in the very near future.
