Nancy Botwin from 'Weeds'

You know, potheads are a funny bunch. They're always in that tie-dye nonsense and asking you for your urine so they can pass the drug test for that restaurant job. But Nancy Botwin of Weeds, airing Sunday on Showtime, bucks that trend.
Of course, she's not your traditional pothead; she's a savvy businesswoman capable of turning a little toke into a very profitable family business. And while she does own some tie-dye, most notably a beautiful Woodstock tank dress from Binetti made of wrinkled chiffon, she tends to dress like your standard young soccer mom. Her look is simple, smart and laid back. Perhaps a better term might be unassuming -- which is smart when working with a Mexican drug cartel.
Like most people, Nancy is a big fan of denim, but her choices are often unique and leg-baring. She rocks J Brand's cutoff low-rise shorts in aged denim that are tight, tight, tight. To say these cropped jeans are snug would be an understatement. She even has a pair of cutoffs from Stitch's. Full-length pairs such as Ginger flare jeans from Seven Jeans and straight leg and boot-cut classics from Hudson round out her drawers.
And while her legs are terrific, it's her tops that help define her style. Minidresses, halter dresses, tanks and camisoles give her an ethereal vibe without crossing into that hippie-chick look. A YaYa Aflalo Arrow dress in onyx print and Rory Beca's Lewinsky floral silk mini dress with a scoop neckline and thin straps are both beautiful and work perfectly over skinny jeans.
Another item from Nancy's closet that makes us appreciate a doobie, brother, is her lightweight camisole with sheer design and contrasting straps in silk by IRO. Catherine Malandrino's black chiffon floral embroidered dress is another look that's so pretty Nancy is smoking in it -- for medicinal purposes only. Even so, our favorite is a fun, flirty top in cream and mint from Myne with a string neck that ties over one shoulder.
And while we typically shun stereotypes, you can't love the ganja without wearing some strappy sandals; it's like some kind of code. But at least Nancy goes top shelf with platform patent leather gladiator sandals in navy blue with canvas heels from Lanvin, or her orange peep-toe with crisscross buckle straps and red platform wedge heel from Giuseppe Zanotti. At their prices, you'd have to sell drugs to afford them. A less expensive choice is Calleen Cordero's Eliza T Morro Zaire leather sandals with a gold stud pattern on the foot strap and toe ring.
