The history of TV receptionists includes Carol of The Bob Newhart Show, Jennifer of WKRP in Cincinnati and Pam of The Office, but none have been more stylish than Amanda Tanen of Ugly Betty, airing Thursdays on ABC. Of course, none of them worked at Mode -- a fashion magazine with more characters than a Neil Simon play.
When you gave thanks Thursday, we certainly hope you remembered how grateful you were that MTV moved away from music videos in order to bring us riveting shows on teenage blondes with small minds and big closets. In fact, you could have been more specific and been thankful for the lovely and stylish Whitney Port, who stars on MTV's hit reality spinoff The Hills on Monday nights. It's not that we don't love Whit; we do, but by now you should all have realized we're shallow and superficial.
Life as a medical resident isn't easy. There's always doctors bossing you around, the hours are awful and, to top it off, you're surrounded by sick people. And yet, every Thursday night while watching "Juicy Couture basic drawstring pants and long sleeve T-shirt, not to mention the way she warms her stethoscope make the monstrous student loans seem almost worthwhile. If she weren't so busy playing doctor she might actually have a shot at practicing medicine.
