Angelina Jolie DID thank Winona Ryder for 'Girl, Interrupted.' At the Oscars!
Contrary to Winona Ryder's apparently flawed memory, Angelina Jolie did thank her for her support in "Girl, Interrupted."
As you can see from the above video, she thanked Ryder in front of about a few million viewers onstage at the Oscar telecast back in 2000.
Thanks to our Dish Rag readers for pointing this video record out. And yeah, maybe it wasn't the kind of personal suck-up Ryder wanted but that speech definitely contains a thank you.
Ryder told BlackBook that she was responsible for Angelina getting the "Interrupted" role that won her a 1999 Oscar.
"I fought very hard for her to have that part," she says. And she thinks a simple thank you would have been nice.
"I feel like it won't read in print very nicely if I say that wasn't really her style," Winona says. "But she seems to be a completely different person now."
Still, Winona insists: "I never had any bad feelings about Angelina."
Just bad memories?

Winona's complaint link posts to an entirely different article about Leighton Meester, you might want to fix that.
Contrary to what YOU think, Winona has never said Jolie didn't thank her... read the actual blackbook interview before you spread false statements!!
Winona Ryder the kleptopmaniac lied? Gosh, how shocking. I'm sure if you ask the soon to be ex-Mrs. Chris Martin she'll be more than ahppy to tell you all about Ryder's propensity for lying, not just to and about strangers but to supposed friends. Paltrow recently took a shot at Ryder in a fake-friends post on her ridiculous Goop site. The fact is - Winona Ryder is washed up. She's not on her way down. She IS down. Jolie is the top of the actress heap at the moment and everybody and their dog is using her for free publicity. Thankfully she doesn't read the entertainment news and has no idea whtat Winona is the lastest user to hop on the Lie About Angelina To Make Money bandwagon. The damned thing is so crowded I'm surprised there was room for one more.
The question was did she ever PERSONALLY thank Winona, not PUBLICLY:
Here is the quote:
"In a way, Ryder was responsible for jump-starting Jolie's career. "I fought very hard for her to have that part, and I never really felt like I got the chance to know her." Did Jolie ever personally thank her? "I feel like it won't read in print very nicely if I say that wasn't really her style," she says. "But she seems to be a completely different person now."
It seems that everyone and their dog is using Angelina Jolie for cheap publicity.
Winona in conjunction with Blackbook, it appears, is no exception!
Truly disgusting that this poor woman forever accused of being craving attention, but who actually stays out of public light, unless she is promoting something (job wise) is forever being bad mouthed by pathetic wannabees!

So let me get this straight?
.
The following statement from Jolie:
.
"Winona, you're amazing, THANK YOU for supporting all of us through this."
.
That was so insufficent to Ryder, that Winona felt she had to kick Jolie in the gut in a natnl publication more than 10 years later, and join in the piling on of petty classless b.s. that Jolie gets from haters?
.
Whose giving Ryder advice these days?
.
I see why Johnny Depp moved to France.
Any of the other 4 actresses performance was way better than Angela. She was just lucky.
Ms. Ryder did not "jump start" Angelina's career. Angelina was a hot commodity before "Girl Interrupted" and Winona knows it!! Angie had already won two Golden Globes for "Gia" and "Wallace." Why, exactly, would Angelina have needed a jump start?
The thing is, Ms. Ryder now needs any kind of jump, push or pull that she can get because the only people wanting to interview her are from an obscure magazine and the only way for that interview to get any attention at all is for the name "Angelina Jolie" to be mentioned in any way. Good going, Winona!! Most attention you've gotten since that shoplifting gig!!
Winona is trying to toot her own horn by claiming in some way that Angelina wouldn't not be the successful and talented actress that she is. Angie had done films like Hackers, Foxfire, and Gia, before Winona hired her for Girl, Interrupted. Angie earned her Oscar for Girl Interrupted because it was a terrific performance. Angie was already an young actress to watch before Girl, Interrupted. Winona Ryder for most of her 20's was Hollywood's It Girl. Then Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, Gwyneth Paltrow Angelina Jolie became competion as each year went by. Winona was no longer to go-to girl anymore. I imagine in some ways Winona is bitter that Angie got the attention for her performance in Girl, Interrupted and not her. I also understand that Winona bought the rightsd to the memoir yeras earlier. I was excited when the film was being made because i loved tje book too. Winona should just be happy for Angie and her success and not try to take credit for it. Angie had a lot going for her before she got Girl Interrupted; she had already won awards for Gia and if I'm not mistaken, The George Wallace Story. Plus Angie's dad was already an award-winning actor.
