Cross-dressing comic Eddie Izzard ran 43 marathons in 51 days. No, not in heels.
According to the BBC, he ran at least 27 miles a day, six days a week, over the past seven weeks, covering more than 1,110 miles in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Even Izzard, who has chronicled his exploits on Twitter, admits people really don't believe how many races he has run. "I might as well say I've just eaten a car."
There have been repercussions. His blistered feet are bandaged before every race and he's lost several toenails and has a sore ankle.
Congrats, Eddie. We hope you're back in high heels very soon!

I''m an ex-pat living in U.S., always loved Eddie, have all his DVD's, this is just simply amazing!! Some people just talk, others DO IT....we need more people like Eddie, wish he would run for office in the U.S.
"I'm Canadian," which is also the retort here when living as an ex-pat in the US and someone sez to do something for my country. (Meaning the good old US of A. Even "Wolverine" pulled this one in the recent film, but I digress!)
Eddie's old stand-up shows on DVD are much loved here in the US, but Americans think the cross-dressing is just part of his stand-up comedy "schtick". The proof of the pudding is that he doesn't cross-dress anymore, given recent successes with accolades in the US including a TV series he writes and produces, and his recent film roles.
Dear Eddie,
I love you and your work and I truly admire your dedication. But that's a LOT of kidney damage and I wory about you. Please take some time off!
Love, Sharon
