First came Paula Abdul's shocking -- OK, maybe just surprising -- exit from "American Idol."
Now comes People's report that Simon Cowell has asked an old pal to join him as a judge.
And that pal would be Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
Posh will appear on the show on a one-time deal. But you just know she would love the opportunity to show off her clothing line and set hair trends on a weekly basis.
Ironically, even Victoria has admitted she's not a good singer. But she can pose up a storm.
Of course, she may have to actually smile on the show.

Why don't they get someone who can really recognize a singer, not a singer wantabe. Cowell is about the only one on the show that can tell the good from the bad. Although America doesn't always agree, he knows those who will make a real living at singing and those who are just playing around.
Paula was fun, full of surprises (remember the crayons!) and smiles, and wasn't afraid to contradict Simon. Victoria just doesn't seem like much fun.
Yes I think "Smile" lessons from Paula are needed. If Fox was smart they'd do whatever it takes to get Paula back. I think they are already realizing the impact Paula leaving is going to have. She has millions of fans...and they are very LOYAL. Bad move Fox. Better go fix it before it's too late.
I would rather watch and listen to Posh Spice than have to see that other girl as a judge this coming season. I can't even remember that other girls name...that's how insignificant she was to AI last season. Victoria would be a great replacement for Paula. But it would be even better if Paula would come back!
VB is nasty, and I don't mean that in a good way. Everytime she takes a picture she poses the same way. She comes across to me as a major holier than thou *****.
I don't ever think I have seen a photo of her smiling. She is way too in love with herself to offer valid criticism of anyone else. Downside for her: She may need to buy a bra to appear on the show.
I like Paula Abdul, she is fair with the Am.Idol singers. She is fun to watch, says what's on her mind in a nice way. I don't know anything about the Spice Gal Victoria. She looks like she swallowed a sour lemon; NO SMILE? hmmmm...
