Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- a former beauty queen herself -- has come to Miss California Carrie Prejean's defense from what she calls "the liberal onslaught of malicious attacks."

"I can relate as a liberal target myself," Palin said in a released statement. "What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe -- marriage is between a man and a woman."

"I applaud Donald Trump for standing with Carrie during this time. And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's 1st Amendment rights," the former vice presidential candidate said.

"Our Constitution protects us all -- not just those who agree with the far left," Palin said.

Do you agree with Sarah? Was this a liberal attack or a civil rights issue?

And don't we have more important things to worry about, like sanctioned torture, the economy and the environment?

Of course I agree with Sarah Palin. This was a liberal attack - pure and simple - and vicious. Ms. Prejean was asked for her OPINION, and she gave it, but she was persecuted because it didn't line up with the "PC" opinion. An opinion is not subject to any measure of its veracity. By it's very definition, an opinion is subjective. And while we do have many important issues to be concerned with in this country, our constitutional right to free speech is every bit as important an issue to "worry about" as the economy, "sanctioned torture" or the environment. If we lose our constitutional freedoms, we have lost everything. This isn't about a beauty pageant contestant . . . it's about so much more. Why isn't that obvious to you?

Her right to her opinion and the reaction to her opinion are two separate things. This ridiculous comparison of criticisms of her opinion to a so-called violation of her free speech rights is laughable. No one is saying throw her in jail because of what she said. They're just saying they don't agree with her at admittedly varying levels of niceness or meanness. There's no constitutional right to not get your feelings hurt because someone disagrees with you. There are only laws in place to protect one from lies. She said what she said. She posed for those pictures. The criticisms are based on truths.

The fun (double-edged) part about Freedom of Speech is that is goes both ways.

Miss CA and Miss Wasilla have the right to say whatever they want. Just like I have the right to say I disagree with them. Not one bit of this story has to do with the First Amendment - its not the government who's trying to shut them up. Its the millions of other citizens of this same country exercising their free speech.

Anyway - she is enjoying playing the victim (just like a certain failed VP candidate) - so what's she and all her supporters complaining about???

Just because Sara Palin believes anything does not (or usually) make it so. Pageant girls (include Miss Alaska, I mean Gov. Palin), use your brains like me and get your PhD. PhD's can work, drive to soccer or hockey practice (hockey mom), help with homework and raise our girls to be WOMEN who know what birth control is and used for. Then they can grow to be what they want to be. And remember, Palin believes the earth is 6,000 years old. Mine don't. They are taught evolution and go to an independent Church school. But wow...their whole class at school is not Christian. Imagine a country with different religions. Stop blowing up the boobs for money, do some work already! Unless that is your only way of stimulating the economy.

I believe that Carrie Prejean has every right to say what she believes. However if others want to attack her for that opinion, she has to take the heat. I don't see where anyone implied that she did not have the right to say it.

Sarah Palin is political opportunist who wants to keep herself in the limelight for a 2012 run. Her motives in this instance are suspect.

As for the whole gay marriage issue, why does the government even legislate marriage? Is marriage not in essence a contract between two agreeing parties? It seems to me that if two people agree to do it, the government should not be able to tell them whether they can or not. The government should only enforce the terms of the contract and have a process to allow it to be broken if desired by both parties.

Just like a Hypocrite to come to the defense of another Hypocrite . . . I wish the two of them would crawl back under that rock they share with **** Cheney & George W. Bush. These people are disgusting, they do not have a clue what it means to true Christians . . . Shame, Shame, Shame on you Ms. Palin & Ms. Prejean with your fake boobs and pity party attitude . . . I do not feel the least bit sorry for either one of these losers.

Bandwagon politics... pathetic. Head-shake in the direction of Palin.

Bill Clinton lied about breaking marriage vows and lied on the witness stand-- and didn't lose his office as President. Prejean is a model and a beauty pageant contestant. Should we hold her to a higher standard than the PotUS?

I don't blame Prejean for not knowing exactly what pictures exist. After you model for 15 photographers who each take 15,000 glamor shots of you, you might not know exactly how people will judge those shots. And before you sign an agreement you rarely read every line. Prejean's photos were not disgusting. Her facial expressions were not libidinous to any great extent. Do we want to see everyone in photos like this? Dear Lord no! 99% aren't beautiful enough to pull it off!

The cherry on top of the pie is that the major hater of Prejean, Shanna Moakler posed for Playboy. And she preaches that she needs to quit so she can be a role model. Wow. Wow. I guess the arguement could be made that she feels bad about Playboy or that she wants her kids to pose for Playboy. I don't understand what appears to be selective logic. I definitely looks like a political campaign for making gay acceptance more wide-spread.

Hey Sarah Palin: shhhhhhhhhhh

I don't understand why you wing nut reactionaries don't wanna let the gays experience the pleasure, the sheer joy, of divorce court?

I mean, if they can get married and it don't work out, they're gonna have to get divorced, right?

It's kind of like you wing nuts have a soft spot for the gays.

Good for Sarah Palin. I'm a liberal and was no fan of Joe the Plumber or the Mavericks but this I like.

I'm not religious and previously had no opinion on gay marriage.

But Carrie Prejean was subjected to the vilest campaign that I have witnessed in my 62 years on this planet.

Gay activists have demonstrated just how ugly they can be when you disagree with them on anything. With all of the misogynist rants I can't understand were the feminists fled to. I guess they have become irrelevant. With people like the pornographic bunny Shanna Muchler spewing venom and the loathsome Mario Lavandeira probably providing funding and running whole thing it has gotten sickening.

Thanks again Sarah I admire you for this.
