New mother eats her baby's placenta. (And, we thought Nadya Suleman had issues).
We thought we'd heard some wild diet tips floating around health-obsessed Hollywood. But this takes the cake.
According to MomLogic.com, a woman named Chrissy Schilling had her first baby over the weekend.
And she and her sister celebrated by cooking and serving up the placenta.
They put it on pasta and into a panini sandwich and posted some photos of the meals on a Facebook page .
According to Chrissy's sister Kathy Schilling's recommendations and recipe, the placenta -- full of lingering blood, vitamins, hormones -- is nourishing for the baby during pregnancy, but the nutrients are also good for moms after the birth.
To hear more about how she prepared the placenta dishes, keep reading.
But before you get really grossed out, you should know that animals eat their placentas after giving birth. And humans are, after all is said and done, just animals. And it's supposed to be pretty common in some other cultures, although they probably don't post photos on Facebook.

Kathy writes, "When I cooked it, I cleaned the surface blood off of it but kept anything that seaped out of it into the sauce. I know I was feeling pretty giddy while eating, so maybe that was some of the happy hormones effects taking place. The 'recipe' was pretty simple, but preparation was very fun!"
New mom Chrissy says: "The placenta is such an amazing organ in all its done for my baby that it didn't seem right to simply throw it away. My thought was 'being the only organ that the human body makes that naturally exits the body, why not take advantage of it?' "

Woo-hoo! Pass the placenta!
What do you think? Are you gonna chow down on your baby's placenta?
How does one go about asking the nurses to save the afterbirth for your evening meal?
Awkward.
Bet Octomom Nadya Suleman could have dined out for a week on hers. Or launched a line of frozen Suleman Special Placenta Patties.

Although published news articles have revealed OCTOMOM made a MILLION dollars EXPLOITING her babies (so far) SHE IS STILL TAKING PUBLIC assistance. SHE shops till she drops buying LUXURY ITEMS for herself, new cars, new houses with LEAKING ROOFS and toxic mold. She squanders money ON HERSELF (never the kids). AND SHE WANTS MORE TAXPAYER $$$ because she CAN'T AFFORD to FEED all the kids she's had. WHERE IS the accountability? People are in desperate straits now -and THE SYSTEM is supporting WELFARE cheats>? CA is bankrupt and STILL can squander $$ on Nadya's brood? While she SHOPS non-stop WITHOUT REGARD to the needs of her children. What is really DISGUSTING is all the bleeding hearts who claim to care about HER CHILDREN while their mother is a freak of her OWN DESIGN. Let HER start (really) CARING FOR her children before ASKING everybody else to PAY HER WAY.
AAAAHHHHHHH!
I think i'm done eating...i may never be able to take another bite of food again.
i hate the internet for reminding me how creepy you people are.
blechh
stfu Karen nobody cares.
interesting story, i'll put it on my list of things to try before i die
Is this society sick or what?
>And humans are, after all is said and done, just animals
That's when I grossed out! Thanks, you animal Kathy Shilling!!!
Luckily we live in a free country and people can be as weird as they want to be, within reason. Is this within reason? Who knows, but this doesn't hurt anyone, so mangia.
It actually isn't unheard of. There is a segment of the population that believes that eating the placenta is the best way to prepare a breastfeeding mother for her first nursing sessions, but returning the nutrients in the placenta to her body for milk production. Weird, but not unique.
This is disgusting! This tops the OCTOMOM.
I watched my cat eat her placenta. I knew it was normal, so I just swallowed real hard and watched her beautiful babies suckle. But, I'm sorry, I just can't stomach this one, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of how it tasted. Good for me or not, I ain't eating it if it doesn't taste good. Even further, I'd only eat placenta if I didn't know what it was, better yet, make me think it's something else, then I might eat it. But, if it tastes funny, I'm going to spit it out. Oh-kay...
To each his own, but that's one "friend" I definitely would not want on Facebook.
