Billy Bob Thornton, crazier than Joaquin Phoenix — is that possible?

Billy Bob Thornton gives Joaquin Phoenix stiff competition for doing the worst possible interview to promote his music, rivaling actor-turned-rapper Phoenix's turn on David Letterman's show.

CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi interviews the Boxmasters, a band led by Billy Bob Thornton, in Toronto on his talk show "Q."

In his introduction, Ghomeshi refers to Thornton as an "Oscar-winning screenwriter, actor and director,"  and Thornton's eyes roll.

Apparently, Thornton told Ghomeshi not to mention his other career in this interview. But do they ever listen?

The verbal spat goes on and at the end the Boxmasters perform one of their songs -- without Thornton's drumming. He stands out the performance with his arms crossed.

Unfortunately, due to rights issues, you can't see that part here.

But watch this, and then decide if A) Billy Bob is totally nuts, B) Billy Bob is downright rude, or C) Angelina Jolie so made the right call to dump this wackadoodle.

What an elitist snob. It sounds to me like he's just trying to be somebody he's not. Like he wants all the fame and fortune that come from being a movie star, yet on tour he wants to live this fantasy that he's just a poor hillbilly that's breaking new ground with his down-to-earth music. What a wet blanket.

hahahahahahaha. He's such a loser! For real !!! hahahahahahahaha ... that's right loser ALL OF CANADA IT LAUGHING AT YOU !!!!! Oh and if hes afraid of antiques >> then he shouldnt he in fact be afraid of himself? thats gotta suck.

..and if Canada's Music fans are "potatoes" >> then I hope at least were "mmm uh ,, reckon we're french fried potaters mmm uh"

Most folks in LA may not realize that Ghomeshi is widely known up in Canada as arrogant and obnoxious himself. If Ghomeshi was told that Thornton didn't want his work as an actor mentioned but went ahead and brought it up anyway, the fault for (another) nightmare interview rests entirely on Ghomeshi's own shoulders.

He actually complained that Canadian fans don't throw things at him and that we're like mash potatoes without the Gravy. Maybe Canadians should start throwing gravy at him on stage. If he doesn't like Canadians why doesn't he go home. Was he stoned?

The interviewer did a FANTASTIC job keeping his cool - made billy bob look even more like the *** he is.

Successful actor. Failed musician and human being.

If Mr. Billy Bob was more confident about his ability as a musician, then he wouldn't be so defensive. I've never heard his music, but I'll bet he ain't that good. And he compared himself to Tom Petty?

I'm actually really annoyed by this. Who the hell does this jerk think he is? Seriously? He's 1) lucky that he has the career he's had 2) should be grateful that anyone's interested in anything he does. He's just earned position #1 on my list of idiots I won't pay to see in any forum. Go pound sand, moron.

What a jackass. Poor Billy Bob..."how dare youm question my artistic integrity...my musical influences...I'm a genius, don't you get it?"

I'm tired of these "famous" people claiming that they want to live unfamous lives and make such a stink about it in such a way that they know it will make them 'more famous'. Grow up - and if you can't handle it, step aside and let real people be recognized for their efforts! Poor Billy Bob - if you were actually poor you wouldn't be talking like that to someone who might have a hand in helping you sell records...funny, a hillbilly with a silver spoon up his a$$.
