Ashley Judd asks for support on World Malaria Day PSA
It's been awhile since we've seen Ashley Judd on the big screen, and that's probably because actress has had her hands full with a very different line of work.
Serving as the global ambassador for Population Services International, Judd recently visited Rwanda to document achievements in the battle against malaria. Infecting anywhere from 350 million to 500 million individuals every year, malaria kills more than 1 million people across the globe annually.
Judd commented on her work for PSI and the importance of World Malaria Day in a statement.
"Through my work as PSI global ambassador and board member, I've seen the devastation that malaria can bring to individuals, their families and entire communities across the globe. ... To mark World Malaria Day, I've put together this video with the aim of raising awareness of this major global public health problem and offering solutions for achieving success in the fight against malaria."
In addition to the video, Judd will also be meeting with congress members Friday in Washington, D.C., to discuss stronger U.S. involvement in the worldwide malaria fight.
