Meredith Vieira admits hiring deer to 'graze' Matt Lauer
"Today" co-host Matt Lauer got out of orthopedic surgery to repair a separated shoulder Monday afternoon. He hit a deer last weekend while riding his bike downhill on Long Island.
Photos of him wearing his arm in a sling surfaced in one of the New York papers with the headline, "Oh Deer!"
"Today" executive producer Jim Bell talked to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show this morning about how Matt, an avid golfer, is doing. Bell said he spoke this morning to Matt, who he said was "a little groggy but shaking it off like the trouper he is."
There are, however, still some "wardrobe" concerns, Bell admits. "We're a little worried if he can get a tie on," adding, with a note of menace, "We're gonna get that deer!"
There had been rumors that "Good Morning America" had hired the deer to take out Matt. Is this true? Bell denies the reports.
Seems Meredith Vieira has now confessed to sending the deer for Matt, but "only to graze him."
Bell assures us that that Matt will be back in the saddle by Thursday or Friday and that "our national nightmare will be over soon."

Get well soon, Matt. We can't wait for a firsthand account of your deer run-in. That's gotta be like hitting a Mack truck.
