O.J. Simpson sentenced to do jail time. Finally!
O.J. Simpson was sentenced today to serve at least nine years for a hotel armed robbery after a judge rejected his apology.
CNN reports that Simpson made a rambling plea for leniency, apologizing for the holdup and calling it a foolish mistake.
He reportedly choked back tears as he told the judge: "I didn't want to steal anything from anyone.... I'm sorry, sorry."
Simpson explained that he was trying to retrieve memorabilia and other mementos, including his first wife's wedding ring, when he broke into a Las Vegas hotel room on Sept. 13, 2007.
But the judge wasn't buying it. Simpson was immediately led away to prison after being denied bail. Hey, maybe the judge watched his white Bronco car chase.
The judge insisted that her sentence in this case had nothing to do with Simpson's 1995 acquittal in the slaying of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
But outside the court, Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, and sister, Kim, were thrilled with the sentence.
"We are thrilled, and it's a bittersweet moment," Fred Goldman told CNN. "It was satisfying seeing him in shackles like he belongs."
The Goldmans maintain that their relentless attempts to take O.J's assets to satisfy a $33.5-million wrongful-death judgment may have led him to commit the robbery.
This time the glove fit.

15 years seems a bit too much. At least I think so. I understand with good behaver time he can be out in less that 10 years.
White folks trip me out. Having never batted an eye over other miscarriages of justice, such as, say, the slaying of Medgar Evers and countless other nameless black men hung from trees in situations where no one was ever even brought to trial -- this O.J. business became in their minds the ultimate failure of the justice system.
In the words of Bill Clinton, re: Barack: "Give ... me ...a ... break."
News flash: The justice system has been failing all along.
Now that O.J. has been convicted on this b.s., now finally, finally we will hopefully see the end of the whining about how he "got away with murder."
I hope that the Goldman's can finally go back to their private life. They both need to see a counselor and find a way to learn to live life. I too have lost a child and understand thier pain, but they are 14 years later and both look and sound like there is NO PEACE in their lives. I feel for them. Please learn to live......Seems like that would be what a son and brother would want for his family.
man, black people trip me out. If it happens to a black its NOT FAIR and they start whining. If it happens to a white its ABOUT TIME and again they start whining.....
The media's treatment of O.J. has been a disgrace since the beginning of the murder trial. Have some decency and impartiality.
His conduct is in no way deserving of a 15 year sentence. He doesn't even deserve 15 months.
The big, stupid, muscle-headed moron DID get away with murder. But his dumb luck finally ran out. He's getting a much anticipated "Time Out". Do they have a nice golf course in the Vegas Big House?
"White folks trip me out. Having never batted an eye over other miscarriages of justice, such as, say, the slaying of Medgar Evers and countless other nameless black men hung from trees in situations where no one was ever even brought to trial "
Oh, please. All white people think that way? All white people look the other way when there's an injustice? That's the implication in your statement. And it's false, false, false.
There were plenty of folks, white, black, and otherwise, who were outraged by what happened to Medger Evers. There were white people who put their lives on the line in Mississippi during that time and some died. Were blacks the only people involved in the Civil Rights movement? I don't think so.
Don't paint an entire group of people with such a broad brush.
Ignorant, disrespectful, FOOL, and arrogant Judge, BIASED on SELF SERVING ignorance.
pathetic IN SCOPE OF THIS "jUDGE" AND THIS PURE IGNORANCE, AND self serving self-pity, ... this is the DECLINE, "pROOF, BEYOND A SHADOW".
tHIS "jUDGE/iDIOT, IS NOW political AND GEARED FOR THE media!!!, stroke THE judge, the more moronic this clown can get.
SAD!.... More pathetic every day.
Whether you are Redneck trailer trash or an African stuck in America, the issue is all about attitude.
President Obama would have used his brains to resolve this issue and not strong arm activities.
Mr. Simpson used bad judgment as many other athletes have as we speak.
Justice is relative!
OJ has finally been given what he has deserved all along. A chance to sit back and truly reflect on what he has done to himself and everyone within his sphere of influence. It is a shame that it came to a pitiful plea for leniency, but leniency and the benefit of the doubt was given to him 13 years ago by people who took him at his word regardless of the evidence to the contrary. In this case, his actions on tape spoke volumes while he sat mute in his chair during the trial. To stand up today and try to "explain" himself was pure idiocy. The judge got it right when she stated that he was both ignorant and arrogant. What a waste!
