Barackobama Our worst fears come true?

The latest headlines are enough to make all of us - especially those who were alive and remember the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and his brother Sen. Bobby Kennedy - shudder and pray, 'Please God, not again.'

According to the Associated Press, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,   has identified two white supremacists who allegedly plotted to go on a national killing spree, shooting and decapitating black people and targeting Democratic presidential candidate Sen.Barack Obama.

Obama's overwhelming appeal to young voters has often been compared to the Kennedy brothers' mystique. And I think I speak for many voters who have been afraid to think, let alone say, the A word during this election year.

AP is reporting that two neo-Nazi skinheads – Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman, 18, of Helena-West Helena, Ark. - who planned to kill 88 people, have been charged by federal authorities with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.

Both men are being held without bond. They had a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols when they were arrested.

Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, told AP that authorities took the threats very seriously.

"They said that would be their last, final act -- that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn't believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."

What is wrong with the violent people in this country? This is so scary and sad.

How do you feel about this news? Are you nervous about assassination plots? What does it say about our country that citizens feel they can use violence like this? Should we ban firearms? How can we protect our public servants?

I wonder how many more of these McCain has up his sleeve?

I cannot even believe that people like this still exist! I mean seriously, I thought that the whole racism thing ended (at least to an extent). I didn't think that there were those ignorant & hateful enough where they would kill innocent people because of their skin color. This makes me begin to question how accepting America really is & whether any of the battles we seem to have overcome are ever really over.

The funny thing is that many think it doesn't exist or that is has gone away, but it hasn't. I'm a black female, 24 years of age, and I have experienced enough racism to know that it has gone away. I've been called names to my face, I been told by a fellow classmate, who admitted his father at the time was president of the local KKK, "I like you cuz you're a nice and smart one of 'them,'" and unreasonably searched for stealing when I was traveling down state one time. You know something is wrong when you walk in the place and everyone stares at you. I was the only black person in the store in this small town. All I needed was an Aleve for my headache. Their reasoning behind searching me was that I took my small Hard Rock book bag tote off my back and they seen me put something in it. Yet I was in the middle of the aisle standing in front of the camera with nothing small anywhere near me, I hadn't even been in the store more than 2 or 3 minutes. Plus I didn't take it off I put it on, it was in my hand when I walked in, and I felt like I shouldn't jus carry it because they kept watching me. So its there it's has just become unpopular for it to be blatant in front of everyone's face. It one of things where you experience it or you don't. I have friends that can relate and others who can't believe such ignorance.

omg i dont even know what to say!!!!!!

I don't want to sound disrespectful or anything but. I know that it would happen I told some friends of mine that there would be an tempt not that they would get far however. It would happen. And for someone to say something to the fact "I didn't think that there were people still racist". How could you be so naïve? Most people that are like that aren't going to come out and say it. You find it a lot. I'm at a young age and I see it all the time. Actions speak louder than words, look at what some people to say and what they do you will know them. I have seen it all. White people hate blacks and blacks hate whites. It's coming to a stop but its still there. My personal option is that this nation is not ready for a diffract colored president. Some time in the future maybe but not right now. Not to say that he is going to be bad or that he doesn't have good intentions. A lot of Americans are not ready. I hope that I didn't offend anyone out there. But this is the way that I feel.

Hey everyone, I actually think otherwise Alan. If Barack Obama has gone THIS far, then I think Americans are ready, maybe not as a whole, but a chunk of its population does. Its funny looking at this election from another country (Canada) because almost everyone I know chose Obama at the drop of a hat.

The race thing is ridiculous in my opinion and America needs to really look at their land more carefully. Not trying to be offensive or anything but I just find it sorta odd when White people are afraid of Blacks b/c of their "connections" to gangs and how they are all "dangerous" but yet many American tragedies were caused by White people...school shootings, bombings over seas (hiroshima/nagasaki), most known serial killers were White, and for those who believe 9/11 was fix then that was done by White people too. Not trying to say that White people are dangerous its just the stigma presented to Blacks is really unfair and Americans need to get their facts straight and hopefully they have.

Obama better get used to it...there are alot of people that do not want him in office...not just racists. It is now 2 days after the election and there has already been 2 attempts at least...he's not even in office yet. I wouldn't want to be him! It will happen. Oh well!
