NicknolteNick Nolte had to break a window in his house this morning to escape the raging fire that burned his Malibu home to the ground, reports AP.

According to the Fire Department, the "Tropic Thunder" actor slightly cut his hand when he broke a window and fled the home shortly after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff's Department says an electrical malfunction in the bedroom caused the fire.

The blaze devastated the house and its contents, resulting in an estimated $3.5 million in damage and left the actors home a complete loss.

When fire trucks arrived, Nolte was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose and was treated for minor smoke inhalation and abrasions.

No word from his publicist yet.

Thank God he got out!
