Courteneycoxjenniferaniston Now that "Dirt" is all cleaned up, Courteney Cox is gonna star in a brand new sitcom called "Cougar Town."

In the ABC pilot, from "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence and "Scrubs" writer Kevin Biegel,  Cox will play -- you guessed it --  a divorced 40-year-old mom. With a 17-year-old son.

"Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free," Lawrence told the Hollywood Reporter. He first worked with Cox when he was a writer on "Friends." "People don't do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing."

Lawrence and Biegel had the idea for a while, and Lawrence felt Cox would be perfect for the lead.

Frankly, we think he got the idea of casting her as a cougar after watching her euuuw-inspiring stilted sex scenes with Josh Stewart, who played hot young actor Holt McLaren in "Dirt."

Who can forget the sight of her 41-year-old bony, vein-riddled Crypt Keeper claws caressing the 31-year-old actor's taut rippled abs.

Hey, maybe Cox's pal Jennifer Aniston can costar on "Cougar," like she did on "Dirt"?

Jen's certainly has enough real-life cougar experience to be able to play one on TV, especially since she's reportedly back on with her boy toy John Mayer.

Go, cougars!

What do you think? Will female audiences want to watch a sitcom about the oh-so-amusing reality of getting older, worrying about your looks, lusting after younger men? Will men?

'Cause I'm thinking maybe not. Teri Hatcher's Susan character on "Desperate Housewives" comes to mind. Nuff said.

I think it is shows and blogs like this that are ruining America.

ABSOLUTELY! i am sick and tired of seeing either A) only youngsters on TV and B) shows for 40- and 50-something women that never address the issues of aging! and since older women/younger men couplings are becoming so normal, i don't see why there shouldn't be a show that depicts this!

Ms. Cox will probably be fine @ 50 years old.

That goes for her friend, Jen too.

So keep on with the Courtney roles folks! We like her allot.

I hate the term cougar. It is sexist and gross!

Courteney is a fox!!! I loved her in "Friends" and I can hardly wait to see her in this new series. I read here (http://www.projectweightloss.com/index.php) about her secret diet and workout routine which help her look so amazing and, wow, talk about hard work after 40.

I can't wait to see Courteney in this new show. I think she's great, and perfect for the part. She's also gorgeous! And yes, I am a man who will want to see this show Elizabeth.

Absolutely perfect casting. Nobody at this point of time fits the bill better than Courtney. A few yars back, Katherine Kelly Lang would have also done justice. All males including me, look forward to see this show.

I love the idea and I am sure I will be a big fan of the show. Courtney is awesome and gorgeous. As a 44 year old female myself, I have been called a cougar and see nothing wrong with dating younger guys. Men have dated younger women for years. Kudos to you Courtney!
