Joe_simpson___jessica_simpson_2 Are Papa Joe Simpson's managerial skills at the root of Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo's recent relationship problems?

Us Weekly is reporting that Joe asked Romo to dump his agent and let him manage Romo's NFL career.

And he offered to broker a deal to sell the engagement and wedding pix to a magazine when Romo and Jessica got serious.

Finally, the Dallas quarterback -- whose NFL contract is worth a reported $67.5 million -- told Joe that he was outta bounds, and then took a time out from Jess.

The couple reportedly are trying to work things out.

Asked to comment, Joe said, "It's not fair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients."

"And in this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?"

Yeah, but pimping out your daughter's engagement and wedding isn't business. It's her personal life. Is he working for his child's happiness or his cut of the press bounty?
