The invasion of the celebrity models has officially begun at the Met's Costume Institute Gala in New York this evening. Here are some the early arrivals.
Feast your eyes!

Christina Ricci - who inexplicably no longer looks anything like Christina Ricci - wears what looks like a leftover box of Valentine's Day chocolates underneath a fine mist of cotton candy. Too sweet for my taste.

Lake Bell looks like a superhero all right. Just call her Lightening Bolt! Or LB for short.

Mischa Barton looks as if she's been attacked by some kind of alien mold. Is it me or are those fish eggs ... moving ....

Michelle Trachtenberg, the new meanie on "Gossip Girl," could have taken a slightly bigger fashion risk than this uneventful one-shouldered Grecian gown. Goddess gowns are so last season. This isn't as good as a red vintage Valentino.

I'm officially over the influx of gladiator lace-up sandals, like the ones seen here on Thandie Newton. They make every woman look like an extra from "Xena: Warrior Princess." And that's not necessarily a good thing.
