Entertainment industry observers are split over whether Oscar-winning French actress Marion Cotillard has damaged her U.S. acting career with statements -- made in an interview a year ago, now circulating on the Web -- about whether she believes much of what she has seen/read about events such as the 9/11 attacks and men walking on the moon.

"I think we're lied to about a lot of things," Cotillard said during a TV interview broadcast last year.

CLICK here to read some of the conflicting opinions about the effect of her statements on her career.

And CLICK here to see some of the wacky conspiracy footage she might have been seen.

So what's your opinion?

If we keep her from Hollywood, then we'll have to kick out Michael Moore, Sean Penn, Charlie Sheen, Maggie Gyllenhaal, etc. etc. etc.

SO??

She's a fabulous actress.

Nicole Kidman and john Travolta are scientologists. If they can make a buck in Hollywood, others with kooky opinions have the right too!

Marion Cotillard is just another sad victim of the mdoern malady I like to call "internetitis." sufferers of this malady can be identified by thier lack of understanding of how the real world functions. Their personal connections are defined by Youtube, MySpace, Facebook and second life.

these are the losers that plant the tatterd Ron Paul for President signs in intersections in the pathetic hope that they are special.

I'll bet she even believes in crop circles and chemtrails.

I'm shocked at the degree of the reaction and the racist abuse that some Americans have directed at Marion Cottilard in response to her comments. Firstly, her comments have been grossly misinterpreted and overstated and secondly, isn't freedom of speech tolerated in the USA? If Hollywood wants to cut off its nose to spite its face by boycotting Ms Cotillard, go ahead, it'll be your loss! Thankfully, she can still work and flourish in Europe, whatever happens :)

How are her comments 'anti-American'? Ok, now follow closely:

1) The accusation she makes is not only totally without foundation ( that means no evidence at all) but has been dreamed up to portray the participants (Americans) in the worst possible light. To wit:

A bunch of disgruntled landlords for the sole purpose of saving money, managed, along with hundreds of conspirators (because thats what it would take to pull this off), including our own government, to plan , execute and coverup the worst crime in US history. Further, in order to mask this crime these same people launched a similar strike on the Pentagon killing more Americans. This means that hundreds of our fellow citizens, in all walks of life, think no more of the rest of us than so much garbage.

2) She came up with this (or was fed to her by some very creative anti-Americans) only a year or so ago. Well after ALL evidence, including bin Laden's own admission, proves who's guildy. She chose to ignore this of course.

3) She goes on French television a year ago and tells this story. No wonder the French think were scum. They're own celebs are telling them stuff like this.

And now she's shocked by our reaction? In other words anti-Americanism is so ingrained in her that she cannot understand why we should even be offended by the concept that hundreds of our fellow citizens are mass murderers. And her press agent seems to agree because she tells us that Marion can make films in other countries so we should just shutup and accept the fact that were a nation of murderers if we want Marion to stay here and make movies.

The strange thing to me is how could she even set foot in a country inhabited by people like us? Not only set foot in it but smile the whole time and work here.

Are we back to the McCarthy era? Do you remember that Charlie Chaplin, Arthur Miller and Orson Welles were victims of the McCarthyism? I thought that freedom of speech was an article of the US constitution.

I watched all the interview in french language and I'm sure she never said that. I'm mexican and I'm sorry but I'm surprised for that reaction. Well, where the reaction to Charlie Sheen, Maggie Gyllenhaal or including Rosie O'Donnell? Only because that people are americans? That's unfair.

The interview was around a question and the only things that she said were that:

*I'm sceptic because they lied in a lot of things"

*I'm intersting around that videos around the 9/11

I never believe in tabloids, like Depp and Smith. With that interpretation she never offends the victims or denies the principals facts of 9/11. But I think you're guilty until the evidence said another thing...

If we start right now, well why not with the steriotypes like your TV programs said around the countries and societies? That's McCarthy era...

Claudia,

So you dont believe that her theory makes Americans look terrible. Is that what you are saying? Of course she can say what she wants. Thats not the issue. The issue is that what she HAS said paints Americans in a terrible light. Do you or do you not agree?

I'm sorry but that accusations from americans makes look them so terrible. Like everyone has against with us. I have nothing against US, but this issue is some ridiculous and stupid. My question is that:

Who's more stupid? The people who said dumb things or the people who are angry and discuss for that dumb things?
