"drug abuse" by Mr. Ledger was the official cause of his accidental death. No doctor prescribed that horrific drug combination as a course of treatment. Please don't be dismissive about the cause of this tragedy.

How much pain can a big, handsome Australian celebrity living in a plush Soho loft with the choice of the most plum roles in Hollywood feel? Not to mention the beautiful baby daughter and fooling around in drug dens while she sleeps upstairs. I mean, it's horrible that this kid is dead, but what possibly could have been his problem? Nobody needs that many pain killers and sleeping pills unless. Elvis OD'd on prescription meds too, and we all know he was a complete mess. What the heck was Heath's problem?

Seriously, that's a lot of drugs. That isn't medicating that's abusing. My wife just had a baby followed by major comlications resulting in major pain, anxiety and nearly death and wasn't on that many drugs. Let's call a spade a spade for once. It is sad that he is dead but lets not play down the reality of the situation. These are hardcore drugs. They just happen to be available by "perscription" only. I'm sure if a small amount of marijuana was found, however, people would be calling him a drug addict. Sad all around..

Heath just won best supporting actor for his role in "Dark Knight", 2009. Posthumously; his family accepted the award.

For all the cretinous posts about the lad, let this stand. I left work with an earache last week. I could have, would have, and did take whatever I could find to make that go away. Even if it would have killed me. I survived the pain through experience, and some do not. Rest In Peace, friend.

It's interesting to see the opinons of other's that compare their own lives to Heath's. You had no clue as to what was going on or why this tragedy happened. I'm glad not to be among those who cast the first stone.

I am very happy to see him win the very much deserved award tonight. I know his family is proud.
