WWE Chairman Vince McMahon calls CM Punk's walkout a 'sabbatical'
It's been over three weeks since WWE wrestler CM Punk disappeared from "WWE RAW" and "Smackdown" after deciding to walk away from the company following the "Royal Rumble." Since then, WWE hasn't made any comment about Punk's absence, though they have quietly moved him off of their live events schedule and out of advertising.
Finally, during WWE's fourth quarter earnings call with investors, CEO Vince McMahon commented on the situation. "He's on a sabbatical," McMahon said when asked about Punk's absence. "Let me just put it that way."
Since leaving the company, Punk has gone silent on Twitter, while other WWE superstars have avoided the question altogether. Only John Cena has directly addressed the situation, when he gave his thoughts on Punk's departure to Zap2it.
Still, McMahon referring to Punk being gone as a sabbatical infers that he will eventually return. So have a little faith, wrestling fans.
