George Clooney ropes Matt Damon into his Tina Fey prank
Let it never be said that George Clooney isn't the king of pranks in Hollywood. After Tina Fey poked fun at him during the Golden Globes, joking that "Gravity" was "the story of how George Clooney would rather float away and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age," Clooney promised revenge.
He went above and beyond with his prank though, bringing his "Monuments Men" co-star Matt Damon into the mix, though. It all started for Damon when he got two huge fruit baskets at home, each with a letter attached. The first letter contained a heartfelt apology to Damon, from Fey and Amy Poehler, for calling him a garbage man at the Golden Globes.
Then there was the second envelope. Inside was a little with a very different message, which Damon shared on "The Late Show." "Dear, Matt, if your note is part of some George Clooney prank, as I very strongly suspect it is, you A-list amateurs are gonna have to step it the f*** up," Damon reads. "We are not some easily confused starlets you're dealing with here. We are grown-a** professional comediennes. Please accept this fruit as a token of our sincerity. Best wishes, Elizabeth 'Tina' Fey and Amy 'Boston' Poehler."
Seeing as how Damon had no idea what inspired the letters, Clooney shed a little light on the topic during an appearance on "Good Morning America." Clooney faked Matt Damon stationery and sent a letter to Fey, reading, "Dear Tina, I may sound like a hypocrite because I laughed at the jokes about George and about Leo but they're kind of known for that and, you know, when you called me a garbage man, you know, it really hurt me and my kid calls me a garbage man now."
This isn't the end of Clooney's prank war against Fey and Poehler, though. In fact, he already knows what comes next and it's big. "I'm doing something that I'm actually ashamed of, that's going to hurt them," he hints. Whatever it is should be pretty good.
