SAG Awards 2014: Oprah Winfrey loses 'day job,' gets nominations
What if you threw an awards show and Oprah Winfrey didn't come?
That had been the case with the Screen Actors Guild Awards -- until the 20th annual event. The iconic O attended for the first time Saturday (Jan. 18) as part of the cast of "Lee Daniels' The Butler," for which she had nominations individually for her supporting role and collectively with the entire cast.
"This is the most fun night!," Winfrey marvels to E!'s Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet. "I never get out." Of course, no one standing nearby bought that, including "Butler" director Daniels (pictured above with Winfrey and his daughter Clara).
"I've never gotten a SAG Award, I've never been nominated, I've never been to a ceremony," Winfrey goes on to profess. When Daniels inquired why, she deadpans, "I had a day job."
Regardless, Winfrey has a clear bead on the perks of being nominated, as she proves when Rancic asked about her accessories for the evening.
"You need people to take your glasses," Winfrey reasons, feigning looking frantically around her. "Where are my people?"
