Nigella Lawson's first interview post-fraud trial: 'I've eaten a lot of chocolate'
Now that the fraud charges brought against her former assistants are in the past, celebrity chef Nigella Lawson is focused on the next season of "The Taste," on which she serves as a judge.
Lawson made her first appearance since the trial ended on "Good Morning America," along with her fellow judges, to talk about the show, but it was impossible to ignore the lingering questions about the trial, her divorce and drug use. During the course of the trial against her assistants, Lawson admitted to using cocaine.
Lawson doesn't recall how she felt during her time on the witness stand during the trial as she was solely focused on answering the questions asked to the best of her ability. "My only desire was to protect my children as much as possible," she says. "Which I wasn't, alas, always ... I couldn't do, but that's what I wanted to do."
"Since then," Lawson continues, "I've eaten a lot of chocolate, had a good Christmas and I'm into the new year." Between the trial and her divorce from Charles Saatchi, it's no wonder Lawson is excited about a new year and fresh start. "To have not only your private life, but distortions of your private life on display is mortifying," she says, "but, you know, there are people going through an awful lot worse and to dwell on any of it would be self pity."
