Jennifer Lawrence's 'American Hustle' accent inspired by 'Real Housewives of New Jersey'
If Jennifer Lawrence ends up winning awards for her performance in "American Hustle," she might have an interesting acceptance speech to give. In the movie she takes on a New Jersey accent, one that may have been inspired by her favorite "Real Housewives."
Lawrence has admitted time and again that she's a big fan of reality TV, from "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" to "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." She also finds herself watching the various "Real Housewives" shows when time permits, which has worked in her favor.
During an interview with MTV, Lawrence is taken to task for her viewing habits, before she jokingly says she doesn't watch "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." "That's not where I got my accent," she says unconvincingly between laughs.
When asked if the show actually informed her role, she explains, "I can't tell where it came from because I just kind of started speaking in it, and I've been watching a lot of reality TV shows and those reality TV shows have a lot of New Jersey women, so I can't say that it's not from them." However, she adds, "I wish I could, I really wish I could."
If ever there were someone to thank the "Real Housewives" at the Oscars, it would be her, so keep your fingers crossed.
