'The Walking Dead's' The Governor: Ellen DeGeneres pranks David Morrissey
If you're on a show as scary as "The Walking Dead" and you play a character as terrifying as the Governor, you've got to expect that Ellen DeGeneres will try to give you a fright if you come on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." But somehow David Morrissey still didn't see it coming when he appeared on the talk show to promote his return to "The Walking Dead."
DeGeneres quizzes him about whether he ever finds himself scared by the zombies on set, and Morrissey says, "It's not during the scene because you've read the scene so you have a bit of a heads up. It's sort of in your downtime, really."
He continues, "My first episode, I'd be there for about two or three days, didn't know my away around. Instead of going into my dressing room I went into some other room and there was two guys sitting there in full zombie makeup just having a chat and eating a salad and it was all falling out of their mouths, and that really freaked me out because I'm not expecting it."
While Morrissey is detailing his experience, DeGeneres has one of her employees come out in a mask and yell in Morrissey's face. It appropriately scares him, but he laughs it off. "You could have told me! " he yells to the audience.
"The Walking Dead" airs Sundays on AMC on Sundays at 9 p.m.
