Melissa McCarthy wanted Elle cover to look like 'the walk of shame'
Melissa McCarthy had a very specific look in mind when she posed for her now-controversial Elle cover. As she explains to Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," the "Mike & Molly" star wanted to look like she'd just come from a rowdy night.
"I want it to kind of look like the walk of shame," she admits.
McCarthy says she was missing fall when she saw the overlarge cashmere coat at the Elle photo shoot and she decided to have some fun with it. That's when "Jacket-gate" took over.
"There was a big to-do about it, which kind of made me laugh. How dare someone put me in a $3,000 coat? That's terrible!" McCarthy says with a laugh, adding that the true crime here is that she didn't get to keep the coat. And she really, really wants that coat.
