Fred Armisen, J. Mascis and Leigh Nash cover TLC's 'Waterfalls'
It was more than just a "Portlandia" reunion, but also a pop culture mind warp in Boston when Fred Armisen took the stage alongside Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis, as well as members of Sixpence None the Richer and Seattle darling Telekinisis to perform, among other things, TLC's "Waterfalls."
Armisen was slated to perform at the Berklee College of Music with a special guest, his "Saturday Night Live" character, Ian Rubbish.
Fred -- er, make that Ian -- was joined by Mascis, Leigh Nash of Sixpence and Michael Lerner of Telekinesis fame for the TLC cover, as well as a rendition of Dinosaur Jr.'s 1994 hit, "Feel the Pain." And indie rock minds melted in unison.
Mascis joined Armisen as Rubbish on stage earlier this year as part of an "SNL" send-off by an indie rock super band that included Kim Gordon and Aimee Mann.
