'Homeland's Damian Lewis to play Nicole Kidman's love interest in Werner Herzog's 'Queen of the Desert'
Already lined up for the role of Bell is Nicole Kidman. Lewis will play her love interest, Lt. Col. Charles Doughty-Wylie, Deadline reports. In real life, Doughty-Wylie was a married but unhappy British war hero who engaged in an affair with Bell for two years which was committed through love letters until his death.
Production on "Queen of the Desert" is slated to begin in December. Though Lewis is best known for his role in "Homeland," the Brit has had his fair share of film roles. Most recently he starred in "Romeo and Juliet" is Lord Capulet, but he also was in the comedy "Your Highness," the teen action flick "Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker" and the Jennifer Lopez movie "An Unfinished Life."
"Homeland" airs Sundays on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET.
