Christiane Amanpour: Malala Yousafzai likes Justin Bieber - Watch
In a video preview of Christiane Amanpour's CNN report "The Bravest Girl in the World," 16-year-old Malala Yousafzai says "it's a miracle" that the Taliban attacker who shot her in the head did not kill her.
And while the young girl touted for the Nobel Peace Prize has plenty to say about preventing terrorists from killing her "cause" of peace and education," Malala also proves she's still, in many ways, an everyday teenager.
Malala describes walking to the local Pakistani marketplace with her mother and being told to cover her face because males were looking at her. She reveals she told her mother, "Mom, I am also looking at them."
Amanpour says Malala proved that she's more than just an awe-inspiring worldwide education activist -- "she's also a young girl who's part of our world." When asked what she does in her free time, Malala told Christiane she is a fan of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Malala was the victim of an assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen because of her blogging in support of education for Pakistani women. But Amanpour points out the teen refuses to be "a victim."
"My brain is saved, my spinal cord is saved," says Malala. "I am alive, and I still can talk. I still can smile. So I thank God for that."
"The Bravest Girl in the World" airs on CNN Sunday, Oct. 13 at 7 pm ET.
