Sarah Silverman's dark turn in Psychic Friend's music video 'We Do Not Belong'
Sarah Silverman, known for her brash talk and awesome things like wearing a $60 dress to the Emmy Awards, has debuted a new project -- starring in the music video for band Psychic Friend's song "We Do Not Belong," which has debuted on her YouTube channel JASH.
In the video, Silverman plays a hospitalized woman who was apparently held captive in her basement for many years by her parents, who are arrested. She does not show a lot of cognitive function but is mesmerized by dance, which helps her start to heal.
"It was just the idea of this person connection to dance and having this bout of straight-up expression," Silverman tells USA Today. "The director, Dean Fleischer-Camp, was inspired by an amazing Nova documentary called Secret of the Wild Child. YouTube it -- you won't be able to stop watching it. It's heartbreaking, inspiring, and heartbreaking again. I loved being a part of this collision of song and story."
What do you think of the video? It's definitely a departure from what Silverman normally does, but we really liked it.
