Robin Quivers reveals a year-long battle with cancer
Robin Quivers, Howard Stern's longtime sidekick, made a big announcement on his radio show. The 61-year-old explains that she's undergone surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment for a tumor the size of a grapefruit in her uterus over the course of the past year.
But that's the bad news. The good news is that Quivers is now cancer-free after a yearlong battle with the disease. She had the tumor removed in 2012, and three-and-a-half months ago was given a clean bill of health.
"I gotta be honest. I thought she was a goner," Stern says.
Quivers has been working from home and phoning into the radio show for the past 15 months while she was suffering through the ailment. She only has missed two days on the air. "I was so flabbergasted," Stern says. "She said the show was the only thing that gave her solace."
Quivers adds, "It never occurred to me not to be on the air. When I was on the air, I was pain-free."
