Miley Cyrus on her VMAs performance: 'You're wanting to make history'
Miley Cyrus made headlines last Sunday (Aug. 25) -- and continued to make headlines for several days afterward -- when she took to the 2013 MTV Video Music Award stage and performed a racy number with Robin Thicke.
Cyrus has now broken her silence on the performance, telling MTV News that people are over-thinking things and that outrageous MTV awards show performances are nothing new.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out -- how many times have we seen this play out in pop music," says Cyrus. "You know now, you know what happened. Madonna's done it, Britney's done it, every VMA performance, anyone that performs. That's what you're looking for. You're wanting to make history.
"Me and Robin the whole time we're like, 'You know we're gonna have to make history now.' What's amazing is we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're over-thinking it. You're thinking about it more than I was thinking about it when I did it. I didn't even think about it, 'cause that's just me."
On the one hand she makes a good point -- people thought Madonna writhing around on the floor to "Like a Virgin" was the most scandalous thing they'd ever seen. On the other hand ... yeah, we can kind of tell she didn't really give it much thought.
What do you think, readers?
